Hi All!
I'm pretty new when it come to VST-Instruments, sorry. I'm doing HD-Recording. I play all instruments, except drums. Can't play drums, don't have a drumset. So I want to do it within Cubase. Played around with the drumeditor for a while. It's basically okay, but of course, the sounds kind of suck. Now I tried to find out how to make it sound better. So I downloaded LinPlug RM F. (Haven't installed yet) Questions to this: As far as I understood, it's a sampler. So whenever it receives a MIDI signal, it will play the wav, is that about right? Is this the case where the latency of the soundcard becomes very important, because if it's too slow, the timing will be spoiled? Where can I find good wav files for this? I want Rock-Style drumsounds, like Korn, LimpBizit, Deftones kind of stuff. Now let's say I wrote a song, recorded guitar and everything and did the drums within the cubase drumeditor and routed the drumeditor to RM F. If I play the song, it'll probably just what I want, but what if I want to save a mixdown? will it save it as I hear it, or without the drums, since it's MIDI? Sorry for my stupid Questions! Take care, Oli

yes, this will work! all you need is the right samples and a VSTi that plays them for you, for example RMF, Battery, DR800, HALion etc.
Latency is no problem with VSTiŽs within cubase, just when you play the VSTiŽs with your keyboard. in mixdown your VSTi track will be handeled as an audio track, that means it will be included as you hear it. you can also make a real audio track by the "export audio" function. rock on r.u.sirius (oli, too [ 05 September 2001: Message edited by: r.u.sirius ]

Cool!
Thanx for your answers! This helped me a lot!! Last one: Any tips on where to get real good drumsample-wav files for my purpose? Maybe even a high quality CD I can order somewhere? (Yes, I do consider spending a buck or two for this Regards, Oli

I love RMF.
For sounds, try the Kalava drum archive http://hem.passagen.se/lej97/kalava/ They're free. They're cool. They're good people...

if you have some more bucks to spend I recomend the AKAI-cds
"WIZOO acoustic drums" but I donŽt know wheather RMF can do AKAI-import....but there are other ways to transfer AKAI samples to wav-format. better solution: get native instruments BATTERY drum sample player. this VSTi is great plus youŽll get some pretty good multi-layered drum sets with it. regards r.u.sirius

Hey guys, thanx for your help.
I downloaded quite some stuff, including the Kalava set. I'll try it out and if it won't fit my needs, I'll get this Wizoo CD, the sample they have on their site sounds quite... well... natural. I might also get the Kenfen CD, haven't seen any samples there yet, but I'll check again. Regards, Oli [ 06 September 2001: Message edited by: Oddo ] |
