AuthorTopic: MDA Electric piano rules!!

This is some great news from kvr-homepage. I just installed the new MDA electric piano and I'm very exited about it. When turning the hardness to 100 you get a real convincing Rhodes sound, in my ears.

I compared it to my own Fender Rhodes Mark 1 and the basic sound is the same. The only thing lacking is the real 'biting' sound when a key is pressed as hard as possible.

But MDA epiano is more than just a Fender Rhodes emulation. It's a collection of electric piano's.

MDA: Thanks for this great instrument. How do you keep this free while Emagic is asking 100 dollars?? It's just great!

MDA Electric Piano? Great idea, but I have no way of knowing what it sounds like, because, you guessed it: I own a Mac! Why is it that the MDA Piano was for both platforms, but not this new version?javascript: x()

Too bad for the Mac users, I didn't even notice.

Even better news for Orion Pro users. This vst instrument is actually the first one I use that features the right click 'link to next midicontroller'! No husseling with CC... That only worked with Orion's internal generators until now.

I am downloading MDA-ePIANO as i write this post. So, while i dont know how it will sound, I guess its going to satisfy my basic needs for Rhodes piano full of reverb and deep in the mix

So, no EVP73 for me then...
Great, cos while i' d probably buy EVP88 I WOULDN'T BUY A CUT DOWN VERSION BECAUSE EMAGIC IS TOO GREEDY FOR ITS OWN SAKE!!!!!!!!!!

OK, now i got it out of me...

Have we Mac users lost MDA's support with PluginSpot taking over their stuff? This is a blow to our platform's VST support.
There is a Mac version of MDA Piano, but PluginSpot doesn't appear to have the Mac version... what is the situation? Anybody know?

Well done, MDA. JX10 is also one of my favorite synths.
THANKS!!!!!!

I'd like to thank mda/PluginSpot for this great plug!

If they would extend this VSTi with a Wurlitzer Piano I'll donate $25 for a non-profit institution which is choosen by the developer and, of course, paid in his name. Yeah, and I'll send a copy to emagic...

It sounds like it's sample based. You can hear obvious changes in sound as you change the velocities. Nice try, but I'll stick to my EVP73.

And a quote from Pluginspot:

"This softsynth is modelled around 12 carefully sampled and mastered (Piano) samples."

So you figured that one out

That's just what's the Fender Rhodes is all about: The sounds changes sepending whether you hit a key hard or soft. My original one does it too

But maybe you mean the changes in sound when playing from B to C. You can hear, when a new octave starts, that a different sample is used as base-sample. But I only hear it in specific parametersettings and while playing with no other instruments and no fx...

Wow, lots of talk about it! I was just using it actually. It does sound a bit harsh and obvious dry, but so does the origonal mda piano, and peopel have grown to love it! It just needs to be in a mix and it comes into it's own. The multisampling isnt too bad, i've played hardware romplers that had worse continuity in some sounds.. Word to mda, who is a really fresh innnovator in many ways! DX10, JX10, DRUMSYNTH, VST fXPLUGS!! Well, it's useful, kinda unique, it's free, & i can guarentee im going to use it somewhere or other. It's good for warm chordal stuff and tinkly solos is my initial impression..

Yes lotuz it is sample-based just like mda's origonal piano so in that aspect it's not comparable to evp73. For what it is it's good however i think.

yeah great sounding. but there is a sample with a looping error at the lower keys-mid velocities. sounds awful

I also think this another great VSTi from MDA good job boys. And I'll also match Pepe's offer. $25 to any charity of MDA's choice if they can do a Wurlitzer. I'd also like to see it come out of at least 24 samples instead of 12, just to get a better representation of the instrument.
