Which is better Gigastudio or Halion{Exs Logic}?
Can I manipulate orchestral sounds better in Gigastudio{ex.can I make a violin sample sound as though it is being bowed}?Are filters between all the soft samplers different, which is best? Can one computer really run Gigastudio within Cubases'mixer without causing the computer to crash? Will Halion import Gigastudio libraries with all the sample information needed to make it work as it would in Gigastudio? Is halion so good that I don't need Gigastudio?

....in my opinion the time has come that GigaStudio can retire.
It was a great time with it, but now the VST-Samplers with HD-Streaming will take it's place. The sound editing is more comfortable in HALion, the only disadvantige is, that GIG import doesn't work 100%. But with some editing on the Megatrig Pages it is said that this problem could be solved. And I hope that they will fix it with a new update. ..... I think all virtual instruments with no VST compability are useless and thank god the software devellopers found that out, too.

I talked to a couple Tascam guys at the summer namm show, and one of them said that they were looking at the possibility of not only a vst version, but maybe a hardware version too. These were just sales and marketing guys, so I'm not sure how accurate this is, but it would be cool to have a rackmounted gigasampler.
Personally, I use EXS24 (got it as an NFR) but I'm thinking about trying vsampler. Small companies are simply more flexible.

Seems VSampler A.K.A Virtual Sampler gives Halion a good
run for its money ! v2.7 does disk streaming ! and it is only $75 , that leaves you plenty of cash left over to buy some good samples of your own choise instead of the samples that come bundled with Halion. Vsampler is on version 2.65 now with 2.7 available as a beta and talk of version 3.0 well worth considering ss do a search for Vsampler and Virtual Sampler on this forum and check out the threads, and check out the reviews in the reviews section.

Yep, speedsoft is one of the cooler VSTI companies. They have a forum at Vsampler.com where users can post problems etc and they jump on em and fix em amazingly quickly. User requests have almost all been implemented, usually by the next release, and releases come almost one every other week.
Thats quality service!! |
