Thanx for the replys on my latest topic.
Question number 2. I´ve found the input stripe in logic. And inserted a plug in on it.. got it working, but with a huge latancy. abaut 200 300 ms.
Why oh ,why. I´´ve heard that it´s possible to record the input with an plug-in and have anotheer fx to the monitoring.
For example; if i want to record vocals with a bit of compression, and at the same time monitor the vocals with some reverb, is that possible.

I think you could do this by using an aux bus, but I'm not completely sure.

a plugin compressor to record with ?
that is a big no no

(by the way, check out Cubase.net)

'cause plugin compressors use bit reduction to compress, so it would sound awfull...

Better record through an 'analog' compressor whilst recording , then if it really needs compression now
you can use a plugin compressor

monitoring with plugin FX is no good (latency)

Hey, some software compressors sound good enough. I like the Logic compressor, but then again I'm using it for percussion, not vocals (who the heck needs vocals these days...)

But seriously, I would not record your vocals with ANY effects. You want to record a dry signal, so you can always change it however you need to later on. If you record with compression, and then decide later on that you want to change the compression, you are screwed. Record dry dry dry. IMHO, at least.

I always record vocals with slight compression to keep from clipping the soundcard (you finally nail that perfect take, and it's unusable since it was clipping). Using a software compressor on input wouldn't help there, since by the time the signal gets to the compressor, it's already beyond the point where it would have clipped or not.

Thanx for all the nice off topic replys.
I´ve heard many extremely nice sounding compressor plug-ins. To me that sound like the good old you-hear-what-you-read decease.

Anyway Back to the subject.
I´ve just bought a middleclass soundcard. soundtracks dsp24 value. Does anybody have any experience running asio Working with the input stripe in logic..
