Hi folks,
I just played around with the really powerful rcgAudio Pentagon I in the last weeks. I discoverd the nice feature, that allows you to load user oscillator waveforms, which can be used parallel to the included ones. So, I sampled some raw oscillator waves of my analog gear (Korg Mono/Poly, Roland MKS70, Novation Bassstation). You can download them at http://www.d-dev.com/download/VintageWaveforms.rar Hope some other people can donate some other raw oscillator waves from their synths... Cheers, Stephan

Thanx, Zapman.
I'll have a go of them tonight. How do you create pcm waveforms? Are they presets or one-shot sounds? I've been programming Pentagon from scratch trying to get it to sound like a lead guitar. Started from Pulse25% and Harmonic2/5 waveforms. The patch is here http://www.rossiterandco.com/files/solo%20electric%20rock%20guitar.fxp If you like it I've got mute guitar and harmonics too. The link below is Eddie Van Halen's awesome lead break from Michael Jackson's Beat It. It's all done with Pentagon, with DR-008 backing track. Obviously, no one sounds like Eddie Van Halen, not even a Pentagon, but we can try ... http://www.rossiterandco.com/files/eddie%20van%20halen.mp3

Kevvvvv, wow That's even better than my Steve Stevens solo on the Pentacore demo song. Congrats! Pepe Oops... I forgot to thank you, Zapman! [ 04 October 2001: Message edited by: Pepe ]

For lead guitar action try sonic syndicates plucked string w/revalver.

Hi All,
First of all thank you Stephan for being so kind of sharing your instruments waveforms with all Pentagon I community. That's very nice and expands the P1 universe to the real analogic world. I got some more wavetables from Dean Hagan, another Pentagon I user with a couple of amazing presets using them. They are *real* (I mean taken from the real thing) Minimoog and Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 wavetables, and they sound *killer* specially in the low end. I'm hosting them here (40k) for all of you interested. If you use them, please say thanx to Dean. Regards, René [ 08 October 2001: Message edited by: rgcAudio Software ]

damn Kevvvv,
Your rendition of Beat it is incredible. I must say the solo kicks ass. did you program that in yourself. You gotta send me a complete version of the song. dw

Hmmm...you know, the more I think about it, it would seem that using these user-defined wavetables would be *perfect* for creating those beloved old D-50/M-1 style sounds (which pretty much worked the same way, using single-cycle PCM waves combined with oscilators)...
Maybe I'll try sampling some waves from my old D-50 and give it a shot....

Big respect to Dean Hagan, the "Moogin' Pad" is the fattest Sound I ever got out of a soft-synth !
(And of course I'm looking forward to Har's D-50 waves...) Stephan www.d-dev.com

Thanks for the compliment, Zapman. I really enjoy this VSTi (Pentagon I) and all the potential it has. I agree that this is going to be one of the "fattest sounding" softsynths on the market. I did an A/B comparison my original MiniMoog sound with the Pentagon I rendered sound and was amazed at the reproduction quality. I hope as users become aware of this feature, that we will have loads of USER waveforms to download. Take care.

I have the PCM files from every disk for the old Korg DSS-1 sampler synth. Some of the leads are killer. I have had no luck getting those files converted to the proper format. Any suggestions?
If you can get me on the right track I'll share the results. |
