Hi All,
I suggest you check out the MDA Epiano. It might not quite be an evp73 but it's real usefull and it's FREE.

My humble opinnion is that it IS even better than EVP73!
Mostly considering it's price The EVP73 model is a little too soft for my taste. And...did you tried the acoustic piano? A miracle in itself! Paul Kellet's my idol from long time ago ... Rere

I'd just like to thank MDA for all their brilliant plug-is, especialy ePiano,JX10 and the Vocoder. You have made at least one skint student's life better with your high quality plug-ins and for free! Nice one MDA and keep up the good work.
p.s. How about making Drun Synth into a VSTi?

A real-time version of DrumSynth comes with the FXpansion DR-008(actually it's simplified so it works in real-time, and is improved in other areas to get closer to the original 808 and 909 sounds).
DrumSynth technology might appear in a separate VSTi one day, but at the moment I've got too many other interesting projects to work on - including further development of the three plug-ins you mentioned!

MDA ePiano rocks indeed grobschnitt ! thanx for the hint.
and i personally find it better than EVP73 as well. EVP73 is way too soft plus the volume is awfully low. u dont feel the hammer as in MDA ePiano. question to MDA: is the plug in sample based or physical modelling-like ? greets stevie

One thing that emagic hasn't exactly made much of deal about with the EVP plugins is that you definately need to run them through a compressor with the attack open a bit so that the hammering sound is really brought out.
This with a bit of gain change makes a HUGE difference to the perception of edge to the sound. Also if you are able to run it through some kind of saturator or really light distortion (like some of the PSP stuff) it starts to really take on a life of its own. The thing I love about the EVP is that the sound is really deep. I can get lost in that sound for hours and not notice. This is one factor that I really notice generally lacking in the whole synthesis thing. I used to do that on a real piano, but now I dont have one (or the space) so the computer gets tested constantly regards sg

mda: any chance of getting the piano, ePiano and JX-10 to work polyphonically in Buzz...? I really love how they sound, but they only play monophonically in Buzz's VSTi adapter (I've been told that this is due to the weird way the Buzz VSTi adapter itself was coded, not a problem with yours: other VSTI's like the Pro-52 also have this problem, but not ones like the B4, M-Tron, Pentagon).
Best regards from a longtime fan of all your plugs!! --Har

> question to MDA: is the plug in sample based or
> physical modelling-like ? It's sample based - the only thing it does that a sampler couldn't do is the overdrive which is applied per-note rather than overall. > mda: any chance of getting the piano, ePiano and > JX-10 to work polyphonically in Buzz...? I'll look into this to see if there is something I can do, but I doubt there is as the note on/off code is pretty standard. Unfortunately I don't have time to try every host - it's hard enough getting things to work in Cubase and Logic. > Epiano on the Mac has the same interface as the Piano... That was a mistake, and should be sorted out this week. Also the clicking some people were hearing (people with better hearing than me!) has been found and will be fixed.

quote: Yes that is the most important thing about EVP73 it has no flash, but has the real feel of an instrument, probably the only virtual instrument right now that has this quality...the B4 is just about there as well. Of course if you don't play either of these instruments "seriously" then it's hard to appreciate these qualities. (not meant to be a "dis" just an observation) -david abraham |
