AuthorTopic: mda EPiano - PROBLEM

Hello,

I've just downloaded the new Mac version of mda EPiano (i.e. the one with its own GUI, rather than the same GUI as the mda Piano) and it seems to be causing some problems.

Twice in succession I have done the following:

i) selected EPiano as an instrument, ii) clicked 'Edit' to open the GUI, iii) adjusted the Polyphony slider from '16' to '8', iv) hit a couple of keys on my keyboard, v) heard a slight 'crackle' and vi) watched Cubase crash spectacularly.

System: G3 400 mHz, 192 mb RAM, Cubase VST/32 5.0, OS 9.1

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Thanks,

The MDA epiano works fine on my G3/450 using Cubase VST 32. But I have allocated a lot of extra memory to my Cubase setup, and I generally run with polyphony set to either 16 or 32, not 8. Does it work with either of those two settings?

Sometimes

I spent some time testing it yesterday, and I can't get the bug to repeat itself predictably - but generally speaking EPiano wont go longer than about ten minutes without crashing Cubase.

I have 120 mb RAM allocated to Cubase in the Finder.

I can't think of anything obvious that EPiano may be conflicting with. I'm pretty much confused. I suppose it might not even be EPiano causing the crashes - but it's the only recent addition to my system, so...

It's a pity - as Epiano sounds great while it works.

me too!
I had a crash where I opened cubase.

then selected MDAEpiano for VSTi

then select a midi track play 2 note

ZAaaap my dual 533 G4 crashed (i didn't set AMP)

but it migh be just my G4 'cause its been
crashing quite regularly...

I hope its just Cubase (set 80 meg ram, i got 640 megs)

Do you guys have some tips on optimizing a mac for Cubase and VSTies ?

....A site with tips&tricks would be a god-send !

I only use my G4 for The Net and Cubase, help

Sorry for being OT...

yeah Epiano since the gui has changed seems less stable for me(might be only my set-up)

No mda ePiano for me either on G4 450 Dual. I activate it in Mac Cubase and when I try to play it I get a horrible loud pop and no more audio until I restart Cubase. Interestingly, the other VSTi I have this problem with (although less consistently) is mda JX10 which is VERY frustrating because I love how it sounds. Other VSTi's are working well (PPG, Pro-52). I tell ya, PPG Wave is amazingly stable - the one VSTi that NEVER gives me trouble, even with Advanced Multi-Processing on.

Sorry to hear about the problems with the Mac versions - these have always been a bit of a mystery as not everyone gets them, and for example the new ePiano should be *exactly* the same as the previous version except for the GUI background and some of the sample data. I know I've said this several times before... the problems will be fixed as soon as we have any idea what the problems are!
