AuthorTopic: cool modulation in Pentagon 1

I suggest this:

pitch mod >>> osc 4 to filter <<< filter lfo: shape=osc 4

crazy things happen if you find the right values for those three sections

Would it be possible to post some patches illustrating your discovery?

ok, here they are 5 presets (.fxp files) for Pentagon 1,
which shows some possibilities of that modulation

interesting?

ligih,

thanx for the patches ... will try them tonight.

Have you any idea how I could go about getting an orchestral hit kind of sound out of P1 ... well, even just a hit, even if not orchestra?

ta!

thanx brittnell!

kevvvv:
an orchestral hit kind of sound it's a challenge in P1!
take a pcm sample and load it as user wave (!)

anyway I tried some "hit solution" in P1,
I will post some patches

now you can try this template:

-OSC 1 2 3 4:

shape
1 pulse 25 (or 50)
2 pulse 6
3 harmonics 5/2
4 pulse 12

octave
1 -1
2 +2
3 0 (or -1)
4 +4

1..2 fm + detune
3..4 add at fifth interval

-no filter, or little resonance at almost no cutoff

-amp evn : short decay and short release, 0 all the other

-chorus stereo+ short delay with some more feedback + eq

As the classic "hit" is a kind of additive synthesis which fill alsmost all the frequency range,
I tried fill the range of frequency with dense fm of osc 1 and 2
+ other harmonics from osc 3 and very high tone from osc 4.

delay and eq help a lot.

liqih,

I spent a while last night trying to construct a hit from the info you supplied.

No ... I didn't get the sound I was looking for. As you say, a pcm sample is the way to solve this. But I learned an awful lot about what makes a "hit". V useful, so thanx.

btw I liked the unusual patches. Don't stop sending them.
