AuthorTopic: Does anyone use Bojo Organ One??

OK here's a question.

I've read a mini-review on this beast in Future Music that puts it as a real contender in the VSTi market competing very well with the B4 in many areas.

They did comment that the sound wasn't quite as warm as the B4 but it also happens to be a tiny fraction of the price of the B4.

So why are there no reviews of it at this site? Doesn't anyone use it? It's recently been updated and it sounds like they've done a fairly significant re-write. Is anyone going to buy this and tell the tale?

The reason I'm curious is that this site is renowned for finding the gems that are out there and putting them on display for others to see, but Organ One just doesn't seem to rate even with good press from a magazine like Future music. Am I missing something here?

Yes, I use the Organ One quite regularly in Logic Audio. I also wondered about the lack of reviews of it on KVR because it is simply an amazing little organ plug-in.

The thing that stands out the most to me is it's super clean AND fat organ sounds. (BTW the presets are excellent too!) The Organ One has to be one of the "cleanest" sounding plugs I've used.

But maybe thats why it's not as good as the B4. Could it be a bit too clean? The only other thing that is better on the B4 is the tremelo/rotating speaker sounds you get with it. The "dirtyness" and rotating speaker of the B4 make it sound more vintage. But I usually aleviate those problems by putting an overdrive plug and tremelo plug after the Organ One in the chain. And I'm not looking for vintage organ sounds as much as I like making "destroyed" organ sounds.

I think there is a demo on the Bojo Software site so check it out! Smile

I just checked out the demo, and it's pretty cool. It sounded a bit dry by itself, but then I put a tube drive after it along with the great (and free) mda leslie.

Does it sound like an organ? I've certainly heard much much worse on some high price synths. Does it compete with b4? Not really, but it might be better for some people.

Lets say b4 is to the be organ what gigapiano is to a grand piano. Then organ one is like the mdapiano of the organ world. It's not a direct emulation of the original, but it sounds close, and is very flexible. You can do things on this that can't be done on a real b3. You can set the tremelo to square wave, or random, you can set the vibrato for insane intervals, it also responds to pitch bend and velocity (had to disable velocity on my controller for an organ feel).

I've got a motionsound amp, as well as a couple of old leslies (well, one's a leslie, one's a cordovox) and I'll probably try it through that later to see how it sounds. If it sounds cool enough I'll probably buy it. (it's cheep enough to get just in case I need it later
)

One request though, add key click to the next version!

The user interface really put me off in the last version, I think I'll give it another go now that it looks a little bit more inspiring

Well I've just purchased it. I always wanted B4, but I guess I'm just too much of a cheapskate to buy it.

Now where's that mda Leslie plugin I downloaded the other day.....?
