Downloaded it. Loved it. Bought it.
It has a really beautiful sound. Beautiful. Sensuous. Moving. Inspiring. Don't know what a B3 sounds like. I like this. Happy kevvvvv

Just tried this one out, and wasn't at all impressed until I ran it through a leslie plug-in. Thats when this thing came to life. For 30 bucks this thing is going to really cut into the sales of the B4. As long as they can pull off a really nice Leslie cab this thing will rock. My only complaint is that the percussive setting, has too much of a bell like attack, it sounds almost like a Rhodes on the initial attack, as opposed to an organ. Aside from that one little qualm this bad boy has serious potential. BTW the GUI is ok but it would be nice if it were made a tad bit more realistic and things were either bigger or closer together. I've never seen such a sparse GUI.

Have played plenty of real organs in my life, from the cheesy schmalzty kind, to a Hammond, Baldwin (I think that's what it was), Farfisa, and a couple pipe organs.
I'm liking this a lot and am crossing the B4 off my list! Especially since I don't use organ that much in my music, but would like to have the sounds available in my sonic palette for those few time when I want them - this one's a no-brainer! Should sound interesting with the Leslie - and, if the Cubase 5.1 thread pans out, may even have a decent Leslie by this time next week! Okay, on my way to linplug.com now

NOt only that, this DaOrgan thingy is fun to program and superbly easy to use. In minutes I've comed up with variations of organs and even managed to get synth tones out of it using the spread, drive, vibrato and tremolo knobs. I kinda like the slightly gritty sound to it all, kinda adds character and takes it away from sounding like its comin' out of a computer. Can't wait to see how linplug betters and develops this thing.

The price of beauty...
What kind of polyphony are you guys getting with this? As compared to other vstis perhaps? [ 02 November 2001: Message edited by: Liondream ]

Peter, where's the tune function? That's what the B4 is lacking and now I don't see it either on this organ.

I like it too. with the leslie fx, and a little work on the percussion this thing will be a winner.

Yeah I bought it too! It's not a B3 clone, it's better. I am using the MDA leslie emulator right now. Can't wait for the Leslie to be added.

In my humble opinion, it's not as good as the B4. The B4 sounds more 'woody'. DaOrgan doesn't quite have that Jimmy Smith choppiness or clunkiness to it. And it desperately needs a decent Leslie. (The one on the B4 is superb). However, if I was on a tight budget I'd probably use it.

Maybe it's not a B4, but it's not intended to be. In fact the ability to add distortion or "spread" can update the sound quite a bit to the point where a "B3-like" sound can be the right choice again, where otherwise I might have gone for something else. You can do sounds that are like a hybrid between and organ and a synth. I've got a real live C3 I never play anymore (well much, anyway), but as soon as I downloaded this plugin I have been giving my monitors a workout. I love it. You're right it needs a Leslie, which Peter is in the process of perfecting right now. I am not knocking the B4 which is a great emulation of a B3, but I think simply trying to make another Hammond knock-off would have been a mistake. It's been done. This is better : )

I tend to agree with Brando.
It's not what it's "supposed to do", but what it actually does that makes daOrgan so attractive. It's refreshing to simply just play it and make tunes. I've never played an organ before so this is real treat for me.

It'll never catch on, it doesn't sound exactly like an organ...
Just like that TB303 will never catch on, it doesn't sound exactly like an electric bass guitar!

A good plugin if you want a "not B3 like"
organ sound. For this purpose I yet prefer the ces2sinth which ,in my opinion, sounds more like a 60s small combo organ. As a B3 wannabe,NI B4 is yet unrivalled.

As an organ newbie I had a great time this weekend with daOrgan.
The swirling sound underpinned both vocals and lead breaks, adding another level of excitement. I'm glad I'm not a B3 owner, otherwise I mightn't have liked it

If you play it inside Fruity Loops3 (both full version or demo)or any other VST supporting host ,you can process it with the (free!)excellent Mda Leslie effect: cool sound assured.
| Lotuz | Posted: 5th November 2001 19:41 |
Or you could use the B4 as insert effect. Oh my g.., what am I saying?!? |
