The next vsti i buy will need to have a randomize patch function (ala access).
i m putting my foot down!

Just a crazy idea: on most VSTis you can controll all knobs using MIDI-CCs right? Maybe "someone" could make a program that would trow random MIDI-CCs to some MIDI-Router. Regards, WilliamK

Orion Pro has a randomize patch function which can randomize pretty much any VSTi. I'm sure other hosts can do this as well (Fruity?).
I think Rich (Orion author) was going to add some kind of patch morphing function too - which will take two patches and randomize between them so you end up with more useful sounds.

It's done. Take a look!
Random VSTi Generator (RND Midi CC) Not sure if it will work with all VSTis. But what it does: Send a random value for each of the 127 possible Midi-CCs.

Have you tried that free FM synth called Phantom. It has a randomise and can produce disturbing results. If you use Logic, ES2 has a random patch generator. When i saw it it sounded FAT.

Aas Phantom is amazing. i wish it used less cpu

fast work, dash!
If someone's interested, I'll post a a pair of macros for reaktor, allowing random patches (same principle as dash) and random mute-scenes (e.g. for 4dex). I use the rnd-patcher mainly for cube-x, due to the fact that fm-synthesis is a lottery anyway. of course, they can send cc's to other synths, too, but dash's vsti is more lean... gwb

yeah phantom is indeed a great synth
there is no automation on mine though is this the same for everyone or is mine installed wrong

I just tried to download phantom, and the page it took me to didn't mention phantom at all.

Tuf, Phantom is in the Aodix ZIP file

Hey Dash,
Can you build a Reaktor version of the random patch generator so us poor mac relations can have fun with it. I used to have an old Atari editor that could do this to synth patches, it was great fun. Cheers Tim

quote: Correct! ORION Platinum has the "Genetics" feature which allows you to select any two patches and randomly take parameter values from each to create a new patch. It is really cool because you can take two presets that you like and make another 20 in five minutes, most of which will also sound good.

Hi,
the FM7 has an advanced Random-Function, you can also randomize different sections (like Envelope, FM-Matrix, FX-Section) with a different Amount (the Random-Function is a random Variation Function, it use the actual sound as the source of the Variation). Bye, Steffen
