Hi all,
Here's a beta of our first plug: http://www.bitshiftaudio.com/download/phatmatik.dll pHATmatik is a FREE special-purpose 8-voice sampler that loads REX files and can export the 'groove' information to a .mid to be imported into your host. It has a an AMP envelope and 2-pole resonant lowpass/highpass filter. Fun. Fun. Fun. Doh!
I've fixed the link in the post above, and here it is again. http://www.bitshiftaudio.com/download/phatmatik.dll Sorry for the 404 hell. Best, Art

quote: I haven't tried it yet, but if it isn't Recycle 2.0 compatible, then it's not useful for me. By the way, does it have multiple outputs? I'd like to assign the slices to various outputs. This is the only thing I can think of what's missing in Reason's Dr Rex.

Hi,
You can't use the REX2 file format without a license from Propellerheads... kind of difficult for a freeware plug. :-) <vapor> Multiple outs and REX2 support are slated for pHATmatik PRO, as well as * Tons of individual slice operations, including replace, reverse, and individual effects. * Syncable LFOs * Filter and Pitch Envelopes, with standard slice trigger, plus external midi note-on trigger * Slice-on-the-fly. Load standard audio files and slice them inside of your host. * Preview in place -- play the loop along without exporting/importing midi </vapor> In the meantime, enjoy the pHAT. Guess it's my turn for the ubiquitous "is there a Mac version planned?" question, but seriously this is a plug-in I been waiting half my life for (or so it seems). Get the features of the pro version right (REX2 support etc.) and this will be a winner.....

Okay, get ready for a dumb one ... but what's a REX file???

Doug,
REX Files are special audio files with additional information regarding the timing of events within the audio. In this way a loop becomes a series of samples that can then be played back with the original timing of the audio loop, but at any tempo. With a tool like pHATmatik or the Dr. Rex Player in Propellerheads' Reason, the loop also becomes a sort of drum machine/sampler where you can trigger the original events as single hits, allowing you to create fills, filter rolls, etc. It's fun to ride the pitch bend wheel while a loop plays in time... trust me. You author REX files with Propellerheads' software Recycle. There are tons of great free REX loops for download at http://www.pocketfuel.com, and of course there's a free player available at http://www.bitshiftaudio.com For more info on REX files, check out propellerheads' site at http://www.propellerheads.se or this article from Remix: http://industryclick.com/magazinearticle.asp?magazineid=48&releaseid=9 556&magazinearticleid=132827&siteid=15 Best, Art

Hi,
Nice plug. Had a good time trying it out. I'm also looking forward for the proversion. btw. there are a few "quirks", mainly when trying to use presets within Cubase 5. When I try to save the preset as a program (fxp), I get an error message: "Get chunk". Saving the preset as a bank (fxb), seems to work OK, but when I load a REX file after loading a bank, it usally gives a crash (Cubase log file indicates that phatmatik has crashed). Also it wouldn't hurt to include more preset slots Thanks Robert

Thanks for the beta feedback Robert. We'll have the program bank stuff fixed for the final release of pHATmatik, and obviously for the pro version.
On another note, I've posted some free REX loops at http://www.bitshiftaudio.com for folks to use with pHATmatik (or whatever!). I'll be uploading new ones every day. Best, Art bitshift audio agillesp@bitshiftaudio.com

Yes!
A Mac version is planned for both pHATmatik and pHATmatik PRO, but it's difficult to say when they will be available. It's largely a function of squeezing an extra four hours from each day. We've written all the code for squeezing the extra four hours out of a day, but then Windows XP crashes and steals back eight, leaving us four hours in the hole. As far as a release date and pricing for pHATmatik PRO for Windows... *affordable* and *soon*! Best, Art

The Pro version sounds really cool Art, but how much do the Props want for a REX2 license?

Is there going to be support for any other sample rates like 48Khz instead of 44.1 khz? It is not working here with my Creative Audigy ASIO drivers ![]()
| progfusion74 | Posted: 7th May 2002 21:54 |
Just found this thread. I have had exactly the same problem. Can't get Phatmatik to work with my SBLive at 48 KHz. Since I am not a looper, I haven't followed up on it, but since someone asked, I might as well ask also ![]()
| bitshift | Posted: 7th May 2002 22:36 |
Er no. pHATmatik (free) doesn't support rates other than 44.1kHz.
Wow. This thread is a blast from the past.
This might get fixed when the DXi2 version is released. Art

Thanks.
Yes it is a little old. Found it quite by accident during a search for something.
| bitshift | Posted: 8th May 2002 10:06 |
Oh yeah...
As I've said elsewhere, pHATmatik PRO supports any host sample rate and any bit-depth/sample rate for loaded files. No worries. pHATmatik (free) is just that, free. pHATmatik PRO is just that, PRO!

Ah bitshift - you old 'Pro'. ![]()

Ta for the reply - sorry if I covered old ground but I view KVR from work so I don't get the chance to read all posts in all threads (boss wanders around a lot ... ![]()
| Takk | Posted: 8th May 2002 21:59 |
Does that mean that Phatmatik Pro will support 48khz (or above).
I've pre-ordered but not downloaded the beta (2 year old child, see) - now I'm worried that I won't be able to use it afterall. |
