i`m looking for a new soundcard.
the system i`m using is
700mhz amd athlon
256mb ram
20 and 40 gb ide harddrives
via tech vt82c686 motherboard (i think, i`m not really au fait with that side ofthe computer)
so soundcard wise i`ve got around £400 uk to spend, and i want to use cubase vst32 5 with it.
i would like midi i/o
i dont need onboard sounds/synths etc
i would like stereo analogue i/o
and spdif and/or optical i/o
i need it to be able to playback at 48khz because i have been using soundblaster with emu aps driver up to now and have written loads of tracks with that frequency.
i like the idea of a dsp card but maybe i should get a £200 soundcard and a more powerful processer.
obviously i would like low latency, 10 ms is fine and most importantly i want rock solid playback of tracks (i suppose thats what we all want.)
but i would like advice from you about suitable cards and motherboards and where i can get info about motherboards as i am a bit clueless in this department.....
cheers if you can help

Get the M-Audio Audiophile. It has the best converters in it's price range. It goes up to 24/96(selectable)and has analog rca i/o/spdif(rca)/midi i/o.It has Asio/WDM/Easi/MMe drivers and sounds excellent and goes for around $159.00(US).
