AuthorTopic: Pentagon v1.1 looking good
kevvvvv

Pentagon v1.1 has a whole bunch of new features like ...

... a Formant Filter that does AEIOU vowel sounds

... and a Resonanance Booster with new Limiters so you don't accidentally smash away your cones (mmmm)

... and a Voice Modulator where Pentagon becomes a VST insert effect to an audio track

... and 10 octave sweep LFOs ....

A real goodie is 40% less cpu usage. So 64 voice massive staccato chords hardly show on the performance meter.

Expect an official release soon.

Yep I used the beta too and a seriously wicked VSTi becomes even more wicked.

Further GUI improvements added also.

I've been playin' with the beta and all the issues I had with it are gone. This thing is even more sweet sounding. Anyway I really like the voice modulator. I have an instant use for it. I was going to get a vocoder, but no more

The vowels are handy as well.

Just smash a drumloop through the Voice Modulator while P1 is playing a portamento over 7 octaves in 10s...

Well, that's fun!

I made a small demo mp3 (about 690 KB). At the beginning of the tune you'll hear a drum loop I made with Dynamo, following by the result

Thanks, guys... sniff... I love you all.

And now, go sample the snorers in your family for some (sick) P1 vocoding experience.

Does that "vowel" feature in Pentagon 1.1 have the ability to create choral sounds?

Well, it depends on what it is you're actually looking for. It's a formant filter, which will give a pseudo-vocoder-ish effect to the sound based around A, E, I, O or U sounds.

It's not going to give a "choir" effect with "words", if that's what you're looking for. For that, you could use a vocoder, or the Pentgon's new Voice Modulator effect.

If, on the other hand, you're looking for a "choral" effect in the literal sense...i.e. a controlled number of people all singing the same "words", you might want to take a look at something like the Clone Ensemble effect, at:

I got the v1.1 update links from Rene last night but I'm a bit confused as to which version of v1.1 is which.

The links to the stereo and 4 output version are self explanatory, but the fx version??

Is this pentagon_v11_fx.exe file just the Voice Modulation FX plugin or is it the full VSTi plus the FX plugin? If it is the latter, is the VSTi the stereo or 4 output version?

All files are 2.6MB so it's hard to tell which is which.

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

Just when I figured out which update file to download, the links break.

Has anyone experienced this? Has Rene removed the files for some reason?

For security reasons the links are usually valid only for just a few days, and then there will be new ones created. If you're a registered user, you have to ask Rene for the current link and start download as soon as possible.
