AuthorTopic: Is there a way to use buzz machines and FX in Cubase?

I read about a VST adapter for buzz, but it seems that does the opposite (playing VSTi's within buzz). I would like to have an adapter that allows to play buzz machines from within Cubase! Does such a thing exist?

Due to the fact that I no longer participate in online forums, I have erased this message.

It seems to me that if there is a VST adapter "for Buzz" then that means that buzz can use VST instruments. Unfortunately, I do not know of the opposite, a Buzz adapter for VST.

It unlikely that there will ever be an adapter to let you use Buzz machines in a VST app besides FruityLoops or Buzz itself anytime soon. Oskari (the creator of Buzz) hasn't shown any interest in allowing this to happen, and the Buzz core isn't open-source.
Best you could hope for is for Buzz dev's to port their creations directly over to VST, but I haven't seen that really happen yet...

It's a real shame, too...I'd love to use some of those wild Buzz generators and effects in Cakewalk or Orion. Oh well... [Roll Eyes]

Well... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember seeing Muon's Buzz machines before they ever started VSTi's.

Yep, true enough: the Muon Synth (and it's a nice one, too). But aside from that one, I can't think of any other Buzz dev's who branched out like that. Muon seems to be more the exception than the rule, sadly... [Frown]

If anyone knows of others, though, please do post 'em here!! [Smile]

Well the Buzz machines format is open - that's why you have so many generators available. So that's definitely enough to code a wrapper (allowing a buzz machine to be seen as a vst plugin).

I'm not sure about how legal it is though, as Oskari has been selling out Buzz Generators rights to Fruity, or so I understand.

My understanding is that the Buzz license (which I can't find anywhere) prohibits the development of a buzz machine wrapper for other formats... Only Oskari can give permission to do this.

As Tick hinted at (and again, I picked this up from traffic on the vst-plugins development list, I don't know any of the principals) Image Line made a deal with Oskari, and, I believe, Oskari actually wrote the wrapper as well.

While it _would_ be cool to have machine support in $MY_VST_HOST, Buzz is a pretty smackmyfunkybitchupcool piece of gear in and of itself. And I for one am happy to use it (and the flood of great generators and effects for it) and render stuff out for use in my DAW (which I refuse to name for fear of starting a holy war).

In fact, once you learn the keyboard shortcuts, I really think it's the fastest and most fun compositional tools out there.

But don't listen to me. I f-ing _love_ Csound.

:-)

Best,

Art
