AuthorTopic: Alternative User Library Database

As NI has a quite weak database interface to the user library, I built
my own. Just take a look if you want. However, only the file
information is in the database, you can find the zip files on the NI
server (and they are linked from my interface, so downloading them
will be possible).

This is good. [Smile]

On the "from date" "to date" fields I didn't get accurate results. Example.

Name: auReality
Catagory: various

shows three matches. If I try to query using the dates, specifically from 2-1-2001 to 2-20-2001 the result returns zero matches instead of one which it should show according to dates in the database.

Please don't think I'm being negative, it's nice to have such a utility. I just thought I'd check it out. Perhaps I did something incorrect?

How are you updating your own database? It seems like a good idea but could be difficult to maintain. I imagine you'd need to bot their site daily for the previous day (e.g. search "13/03/2002") I like the search options though. I thought about doing this on the desktop side with Access and a remote grabber.

nice start mate - but unless you have a full text search like the NI search the your site is actually less helpful ..

put a full text index on the description field [Wink] [Wink] then add some queries to search on that aswell

- also whats the point of the login? -

Oh, thanx!

I think, you wanted to say:

Author: auReality

quote:

The date format is YYYY-MM-DD
I have already inserted this format description at the 'Date'-Field.

It is correct, there are no records between 2001-02-01 and 2001-02-20.

A few scripts. At the moment they are started manually, but I put (today?) them in a cron-job.

Oops, my fault [Smile] Actually I thought, this would be available.
I add it soon.

Why is your site asking me for a username and password?

Hi!

Release 2 of my User Library database is out.

New:

- search over description in one of two modes:

a) strict order - the keywords given in the description field must appear exactly in this order in the description text

b) substrings - the keywords given in the description field may appear anywhere in the description text

Changes:

- several keywords can be given in 'Filename'-field and 'Author'-field, the order counts

Bugs fixed:

- category "Audio Effect", "Sample Data" and "Sequenced Synthesizer" gave no results

Very easy to use interface; well done. There's a lot wrong with the NI database facility and you've at least made a more useful front end! [Smile]
