hi all, anybody out there with sonic syndicates "Junglist" VSTi? i'm getting sudo-random glitch (aka a pop/crack sound) in the right channel when using it. it happens on almost all settings and is always the right channel... i'm using Cubase VST in winXP. can anybody else corroborate before i send them an email? thanx!

To me...it sounds like you have a latency problem, but it sure would help to tell me which soundcard you're using?

It's either a bad driver or a clipping problem. Does the same thing happen when you turn down the volume in Junglist?

yeah i thought latency too, but it exports with the clip when i render it... i have a audiophile 2496.

system:
WinXP::Cubase VST
dual 1ghz PIII
1GB pc150 RAM
2x40GB RAID 0 7200 ATA 100 drives
GeForce2 Ultra
Audiophile 2496
SBLive!
intel nic

i set my buffer for the Audiophile to every thing immaginable... every PCI has it's own IRQ, the system is only used for Audio....

Strange thing is this is a new problem starting last friday.... and i haven't installed anything new.... i'm gonna check to make sure.

Thanks for all the help!

Now THAT'S what I call a system! [Razz]

Just a small note: did you install your Audiophile below or above SB (i.e. which enjoys priority)? I don't know much tech, but when I was putting my system (under Win2K) together I got all sorts of troubles, and 99% of them disappeared as soon as I swapped slots and put Audiophile above my SBLive... In fact, I found that Audiophile is perfectly suited to replace SB in every single area (presuming your sampler can handle soundfonts).

Good luck, and if you can please let us know how you fixed and what!

Thats the system from hell johann, theres no way it could be latency (plus i dont think latency issues are a prob when you render) unless your drivers are as screwed up as possible.

Are you using VIA drivers on your MoBo? If so, you might want to try installing the latest 4in1's from ViaTech.com. I've got a very similar system, and was having "pop" issues when using the SB Live (plat 5.1). It also just started one day for me as well. Updating the drivers fixed the prob for me, and hopefully it'll do the same for you.

On a side note, I was running the SB with my Terratec for a while for soundfont support, but did scrap it once I found I can still use them fine without it (via Orion Pro's sampler).

Best of luck to you!

i just tried those drivers.. same issues... i don't want to have to spend a reloading my system... ugh... i also tried lowering my speed on my RAM... i might to do underclock my chips .. i'm just outta ideas... stoopid software... [Wink]

thanks for all the help so far!

ok so after a whole night of removing and adding pluggins one by one, the problem has seemed to have disappered. i thought, at one point i had narrowed it down to a specific pluggin, just to find out it was still doing it... so after i removed every single third pary pluggin and began to install them one by one, trying to find the prob, it never happened again. so, moral of the story i guess, crackle=remove and reinstall pluggins...

again, thanks for the help.

I actually went so far as to remove my SBLive! completely and have never looked back. Not only have all of my pop/click issues disappeared, but my system is far more stable. Feels good. [Smile]

...which has nothing to do with it anyway, since soundfonts will play back in any SF compatible player/sampler just as well using Audiophile as they did with SB!

Good luck,

What motherboard are you using on this system? Not that I think it had anything to do with your problem, I'm just wondering...

I love Junglist on my system, but I bet I would REALLY love it on yours!

my mobo is asus cu4vx-d.. the thing i like most about it is can take upto 4GB ram. the system is kinda slow in my opinion.. and i would love to plonk down some more bills for an ever faster one as i really like to run every VSTi with every effect at once and rendering them down to audio trax is just a waste of my time IMO...

but i got so much $$ invested in this box, it'd be painful to start from skratch. But i'm already upgraded to the hilt.. i can put faster SCSI HD, put in slightly faster PIIIs and more ram... but that's about it... oh well... time to go back to being a wage slave....

Hey johann,
I had exactly the same prob with junglist, i tried out your idea, and it worked really well. im glad i came across you inquiry. so really, i would like to say thanx. cos i thought i was jus gonna have to put up with it. junglist is a great instrument and i think when i get a fat wad of ca4h next month, along with a super computer im goin to buy the full version and just in case you didnt know pentagon is also a great vsti, for similar stuff. by the way my computer will be

P4 2.0Gb
Asus P4266, im not sure if thats right
1Gb RD ram
40Gb 7200rpm IBM hard drive
Iomega internal zip drive
a case specially designed for low noise
Leadtek Nvidia Geforce 4
I already have a geforce 2 so my...
...2 fat 19" monitors will be looking nice!
A creamware Luna 2
reaktor 3 and hopefully absynth for pc.

this all came to around £2300 and there was all the other things like midi interface and headphones + wires etc. i really hope i dont have to many problems with my new one, cos my athlon xp 1.8Gb has been crap. i suppose the fact that i had a soundblaster live player didn't help matters. i havent even got a keyboard yet so ive been programming pureley with a mouse for a year. anywayz i better go before i reveal more pointless random facts that you peeps really arent interested in hearing.

government stealth warning: dont drink from the mainstream. it can have extremely devastating effects.
