Well to Tribe's defense it's still April Fools Day in the States. Do you guys forget about all the different time zones in the world?

Actually April Fools day officially ends at Noon, on April 1, in your particulat timezone. It is well after that time anywhere..so yes i did take it into account ![]()

That old gag. Why would they call it April Fools Day if it's only a half day then ![]()

Well at least some of us are lucky enough to own the hardware "version" ![]()

Yeah, this constant unhealthy obsession with Access Virus is making me think that this really is the hardware synth to own.
I may find myself at a counter somewhere shelling out big bucks. If it really is that good - why worry about a software version - buy the hardware one. Caleb

quote:Well, there are two obvious answers to this: one is that a hardware synth costs considerably more than an equivalent software synth, and the other is that hardware can be difficult to integrate into a software studio.

Hi mateo. My response was more to do with the fact that there is not likely to be a VSTi version from all reports, so if it is that important to get the sound of this thing - buy it in hardware.
I appreciate the cost and difficulties of hardware, but I just recall mentions of this elusive Access VSTi dream for quite a long time now and it makes me think that hardware will end up being the way to go to at least get some of that dream realised. Unless you want to go ProTools and buy the plug-in. Caleb

by the way, Caleb...I heard Pro Tools is going ASIO.... ![]()

I just sold my virus b rack..It was sold the first day I advertised it..Funny, they are hot property. However why do I need it? The synthesis is nice but no better than half of the other analogue emulation synths. What made the virus better was that it had stunning presets.
But it still can't do anything Reaktor, Tassman, or Virsyn Terra can't do. If anyone is really set on getting a virsu I HIGHLY recommend waitign till the vsi for it is released on the powercore..And no that's not an april fools, I hear from good sources that this is in the works. Since powercore uses similar processors to digi stuff I presume the virus tdm will be easy to port. The powercore street price is similar to a virus price, ok so then you will probably need to spend $500 bucks more to get the virus plug in but look at it this way, you just also got 8 tc hardware reverbs thrown in And no noise to boot..and no cables...
gotta love that | |

quote:Good point quote:I heard the TDM ploog the other day, and the quality of the sound was outrageous! The closest thing I've heard to that 'Prophet VS' rich, three-dimensional, electrically-charged sound (hey I should be a wine critic ).
I haven't played with the the original h/w version so I can't compare, but I want want want one.

quote:I knew a big gun had opted to produce for that platform. I had forgotten it was Access Virus. TC Powercore is a pretty neat solution I reckon - although I can't think of ever needing 8 TC Reverbs. Besides the point I guess. But it certainly doesn't bring Access Virus any closer to a native VSTi release though. In all honesty though. I think the endless talk about Access Virus convinces me to look elsewhere. I feel like I have classics even if they're not emulations. I'm more likely to be enticed by something that at least seems to be new. That's a bit harsh on the Virus as it really isn't that old, but you know what I mean. Oh blah blah. I think I'll go to sleep now. Caleb |
