Just a quick note of my impressions on the new vsti's that came out today.First,GalactiX is awesome! It eats up my little 850 cpu but with Rene of rgc providing some patches(and hopefully some advice to Alex) we may see a few tweaks that will bring cpu usage down.I would love to see what would happen if Pentagon1 and GalactiX got together and had a baby. What a monster that would be!Second all I have to say about the bowed string vsti is April Fools was yesterday(at least in the U.S.-Lets see if it's 3:30pm in Las Vegas it must be what-July in Europe?I can never get that time thing right.)Lastly someone else will have to test Trionic.I'm not going to be the guinea pig on that one.

GALACTIX
Love the name! Like the look (nice colours!), though there is a whole lot of wasted real estate here, which could be used to give room for bigger knobs - some are barely visible (in the "Phase" column they are painfuly tiny), and I am guessing more than seeing the numbers in the "Tune" column. Also, some sort of visual feedback on the numbers (e.g. a LED or a Bar that increases in intensity) would be nice. Like the sound too. The presets are OK, but I suspect there is more to this synth than what they are able to show. BOWED STRING Buggy, no GUI, not terribly impressed with the sound. If it's someone's first work, it's commendable - but if it's coming from a seasoned pro, it's a shame.
TRIONIC and the rest I don't usually give VSTi's a second chance if they are both a) crippled, and b) crash my Win2k system like T-Rex crashes a chinashop. AFAIC, if you want to release a Beta to the public, make it free; if you want to release a demo version, make damn sure it's not buggy. But no touch/no work is not going to win my trust. Besides, I think I've been spoiled rotten by rgcAudio, Linplug, mda, and Jason...

Like GalactiX a lot, it is a really impressive bit of kit. I will have to get to know it a lot more, and hope that it doesn't eat up my 800cpu as bad as Marc555's. Oh well, if it does I just hope that later revisions will ease the load a bit.
Bowed String looks promising but I haven't tried it yet. Michael

GalactiX sounds great, the layout initally threw me for a loop but it's very intuitive after spending a few minutes.
Great work Alex. | |

I think it's obvious why Galactix is such a huge CPU hog. 6 oscillators with real-time reverb and chorus? Youch. That'll gobble up your processor in no time. Unfortunately, on my Athlon IV 900MHz laptop, I can't get much more than 2 simultaneous sustained notes in FruityLoops without crackles. Nice rich sound though.

I liked the Galactix presets, but I'm reserving my judgement on the instrument at the moment.
It seems like a good synth for all pervasive sounds but a bit of a tinkering might bring out a charming instrument. Meanwhile I think it is probably already got some interesting updates planned for it and I'm quite intrigued to see where this one will go. Caleb

Well, I can't say anything about Galactix that hasn't already been said. Thanks Alex & SmartElectron:x!
As for the Axxeom plugs, I can't get a peep out of them in Logic Audio 4.8.1. If I try to use them in VAZ 2001, I get no sound from Lupah and nasty sounding stuck notes in Trionic. Come on Axxeom, this is version 1.03 of the plugs! They are supposed to WORK!!! ![]()

The mere fact that we haven't heard a word from Axxeom in their own defense is a bad sign in my opinion.I can't see how anyone who programs vsti's doesn't know of KVR.What kind of customer support can you expect from a company that won't even support themselves!?

I just e-mailed Axxeom and gave 'em hell.Lets see what response we get(if any).

Well just so they are NOT getting only negative remarks, I thought I'd mention that the new versions of the Axxeom plugins are working for me in Cubase VST 5.1r1 ...but I couldn't get Lupah to output on multiple channels. I run my desktop at 1600 x 1200 so the buttons on these two plugins are too small for me to consider. Ooops I wasn't gonna say anything negative.
Galactix...now I will put up with it's interface for those sounds. But like Dingo I wouldn't mind it being a little easier to read the numbers at high resolution, I usually just put my mouse in the region of the button and use my ears...but sometimes it's nice to get a visual too.
