AuthorTopic: GalactiX is 8 part multi-timbral?

Is it me or is there anyone else having problems working out how to use GalactiX multi-timbrally.

My understanding of a multi-timbral synth is one that you can allocate independent voices/programs to several parts that are usually set to different MIDI channels.

Does GalactiX work on a different paradigm?

Cheers,

you can run upto 8 instances of that plugin per host.

each instance can run its own timbre (e.g. preset).

so here the meaning is that timbres are counted by vst channels not via midi channels .

I can run 8 instances (and even more) of ANYTHING I plug into Orion so it is hardly a specific feature of GalactiX.

... but it's a very nice sounding synth [Wink]

But this is not the definition of "multi-timbrally"! As relayer2001 mentioned, as far as I know it means that one instance of an instrument is able to play various sounds at once through different MIDI channels.

And aren't this "8 instances" a limitation of Cubase, not the VSTi? Other hosts don't have this limit.

So you should remove the word "multi-timbrally", since GalactiX is not having this feature according to the common definition.

P.S.: Please, don't be angry by this little quarrel, GalactiX is even without "multi-timbrally" a great and one of the best freeware VSTi! [Smile]

I agree,

Running multiple instances of a plug-in does not make it multi-timbral in itself.

Although it's very nice that you can run multiple instances of course.

Please folks. Don't let this topic turn. GalactiX is an excellent free synth. I just thought I was missing something. That's all.

Now let's all play nice. [Big Grin]

Thanks much. I even tried their pages and couldn't find a peep about it.

Thanks again.
