I wanted to buy this one
But there is no VST-I version
It can only be used in Logic Audio
.. i don`t own it and i have my own vsti host / sequencer

I payed 100 $ for a secondhand harmonix talkbox to do vocoding similar to trautmans computerlove
In nowadays songs we all hear this dull cher like sound and i was hoping this is something like orange vocoder only with pitch tracking ... and i was hoping i could make more vocoding sounds with voice and guitar pitch tracing. To get some kewl funk background vocoder vocals.

If emagic will bring this out in a stable vsti form. I will buy it for sure for €159 if it is midi controllable as well ! I will re-review this one then. ..(was not reviewable now ... couldn`t select os .... )

Anyway .... dear emagic ...could you be so kind to make a vst-i of this one ........ Smile

Considering Emagic's track record, overall attitude towards VST and how they crippled the EVP in VSTi form, I wouldn't hold your breath for VST versions of their newer plugins and instruments. Because of their Logic exclusivity, they help promote the platform and entice you to embrace Logic as your primary DAW.

Why not just get Orange Vocoder and run your voice (or anything else that could serve as a formant) against your carrier of choice. You can run any MIDI controllable VSTi or audio source through Orange Vocoder very easily. Perhaps you are looking for something more specific that only EVOC20 provides?

Not trying to start a platform war... But you do realize all those new Cubase plugins can only be used in cubase don't you? I think that's being pretty exclusive...

The difference is its the plugins that are bundled with Cubase that only work in Cubase, however the separate product/plugins that da B0rg release work in any VST host, they aren't tied to Cubase.

Emagic however insist on releasing separate products/plugins that can only be used with their products, not very sporting...

Logics UI is pretty wicked too I think, much nicer than SX's from the screen shots. I may be temted to switch, though I hear they are more focused on the Mac side of things and im switching to PC.

Logic PC version works flawless, mainly beacuse they develop and deliver PC and Mac versions at the same time whith the same features.

Ben, regarding the Logic politics thing, which I've discussed to death in this forum:

It is clear that VST is not a priority for Emagic. Would you blame Digidesign for having their own RTAS plugin format, only compatible whith their products, instead of adopting VST?
And yes, RTAS plugins are quite expensive but they are true quality not compromised peaces of software. So are Emagic's instruments and plugins.

Anyway, they are bundling Logic 5 whith 3 free synths and over 50 top quality plugs (in platinum) now, so seems quite fair to me.

And hopefully you were also able to gather from my post that it was rather matter-of-fact. No need to be defensive. I don't currently use Cubase or Logic. But you must admit that Emagic's support for VST has always been fairly lackluster. Even FruityLoops is a more solid VST host.

Obviously, all of the modern DAWs have their own proprietary plugins, but VST has grown far beyond simply Steinberg. They did a good job at promoting an open plugin standard that can be adopted by anyone.

My main point was that I see it as very unlikely that Emagic will port their new plugins/soft synths as they provide incentive to purchase Logic (which I may end up doing myself...).

I can't imagine anyone switching to Logic ONLY to be able to use Logic instruments, particularly when there are more or less equivalent VSTi's out there. There's nothing EXS24 can do that HALion can't do (well, except maybe sound good [Smile] . EVP88 is not that great and good samples definitely equal it, the Wurlitzer barely sounds like one. There are loads of synths out there that are at least as good as ES1. If you REALLY need the Logic instrumetns go buy MicroLogicAV for $75 and do import/exports between it and your regular host.

BTW, if you want that Cher sound you also need to go get AutoTune.

most of them can be used in the last wavelab as well Smile ...anyway .... i have no bad thoughts about steinberg or logic ...they make nice programs.

i just needed a good pitch tracing vocoder. all the software vocoders i know of have no pitch tracing. I thought the evoc would be kewl but i have no money or time for a complete other sequencer .. so i stick to my vst host.

Found a solution anyway to do it with a very old synth with only sinc but some beasty sounds that can be assigned to a imput signal ..
