Can ES2 be controlled with continuous controller messages? In other workds, is it pissible to control it with my MIDI controller?
I tried, but it wouldn't work for me.

Let me know if anyone succeeded at accomplishing this.

Thank you in advance!

You need to change the setting under Options - Settings - MIDI Options.

Down the bottom switch to 'software instruments use midi control (v4.x style)' or something to that effect.

Then you will have to do some fader remapping to get it to work with your external controller.

good luck!!!

Thanx Sogo.
I tried what you suggested, but it didn't work for me. [Frown] I can control all my VST instruments, but ES2 doesn't respond to incoming midi messages. Is there anything else I can do? Are you able to control your ES2 with external MIDI controller?

What exactly do you mean by this? What faders do I have to remap?

Thank you again!

Hi DJ Remidi

have you fiddled with the environment at all?

By using a transformer object you can tell logic to convert an incoming cc to another cc number.

You need to get into the manual for logic and read up on the environment. The main thing is to get a feel for the signal flow - which is pretty simple - but not simple enough to describe here. I would also suggest reading up on how audio instruments handle cc #'s.

The environment is not as hard as everyone goes on about, you just need to spend a little bit of time in there. You dont need to know EVERYTHING, just enough to cable things together and alter something every now and again.

see ya

PS I didnt answer you question directly... yes, I am able to control the ES2 with external controllers.

[Mad] Urgh!

Can't get it to work. I did something and it worked for a little while, but now I can't get it to work again. I can program my MIDI controller to send any CC# I want it to, so the problem isn't in ES2 not receiving correct CC#, the problem is in ES2 not receiving ANY CC# at all. I know that OSC1 Semi should respond to CC# 12, but when I send that MIDI message to Logic (I see Logic recognizes that message) ES2 doesn't respond. Now, when I load Junglist, or any other VST, it responds to all MIDI messages just fine. What am I doing wrong?

Please help! [Confused]

OK, I got it working now. All this time I was sending wrong MIDI messages (yes, I know it's pretty dumb of me [Smile] )

Another thing though, ES2 will only accept CC# 66 through 127, now with these I can control pretty much everything, but there are still some parameters that are left out, like Envelope and LFO settings. Any way I can control those with my MIDI controller?

Thank you in advance [Wink]

I can't answer for you, but I'll counsel patience - ES2 is a demo product and not even available for purchase just yet. So there may be a few unfinished features and there is NO manual.

I've been automating using Logic Control, so I can't answer your CC question. But I'm sure that if you decide you like the synth and decide to buy it, there'll be both an update available that might solve your problem as well as good instructions in the manual!

Have fun!

wait, i'm confused... where did you guys get your es2 or es2 demos from? i bought LAP 5 and only have XSkey options for es1, exs24, and maybe an organ or something.

they are either running Locic controlls (that ship with 5.1 and has es2 demo) or they are running a cracked version..

Well, I'm obviously running 5.1 with Logic Control, but there are some PC users who got a 5.01 update in their box (which gave demo access to ES2 as well), while *most* other users are running 5.00. So use of ES2 is not necessarly an indictment.

But the cracks do have EVOC and ES2 turned on fully.... and it sounds as though Emagic developers went to town trying to put in subtle bugs for crackheads.

how large is the update (5.01)? would someone be willing to post it somewhere, or rather, why hasn't emagic posted any updates online yet? just really curious to try the es2 myself... i remember reading that logic 5 would ship with 30-day trials of ALL of emagic's plugins.

Following the discussions on the LUG:
5.01 is identical to 5.00 only it has EVOC and ES2 enabled.

5.1 is for Logic Control users only, and while it has multiple undos, it also does NOT have all of the SSE/G4 optimizations promised in the "real" 5.1.

When Emagic is ready to release the real 5.1 (which keeps being "any day now"), everyone can download it, and everyone WILL get a 30 day trial of EVOC20 and ES2.

My problem is that I've been using 5.1 for 4 weeks now, and my EVOC20 and ES2 permissions are running out... and there is no way to buy them yet. So is it better to have loved and lost, or not to have loved by this point?

Emagic haven't posted a 5.0.1 update because the ES2 and EVOC20 aren't yet available for purchase. Since you get a 30 day demo of them with the update, it's looking like some people are going to run out of time with those & then not have any way to order them, which was a mistake (Emagic thought they'd have the new plugins available sooner), so they don't want to make that mistake even bigger by providing a downloadable 5.0.1 updater. 5.0.1 has no bug fixes or new features, only the ES2 & EVOC20. They're going to post a downloadable update once they've got more bugs fixed and the new plugins are readily purchasable.

You can use a transformer to map your incoming CC values to the new type called "FADER", which has been introduced as a part of the new automation system. That way you are not limited to just 16/64 parameters! [Cool]

Fader 1 controls the main panel of an audio object (volume, sends, ...) and Fader 2 to 15 control Insert 1-15's plugin parameters. [Confused]

That way I am able to use i.e. my virus to control es2 cutoff... [Big Grin]

That's what they've been saying about Logic Gold 5.0. Anyone remember the moie The Money Pit? "two weeks, two weeks".
