I dont know if this has been talked about before, but i was just wondering why other soft synth designers havent gone the absynth route and implemented a massive envelope editor (for each knob maybe?) into their vst-i's?.

I know you can control each knob from within your host, but this doesnt exactly work for designing sounds and patches. Isnt it about time we moved away from the basic Attack-decay-sustain-release envelopes??

how hard could it be to add that?

or why doesnt someone make an envelope vsti? one that saves its own patches, so you can easily load up a sound again, or try the same envelope out on other patches, or even other vst-i's?

also, i love to use fruity occassionally, but is there a way that i can control each knob movements from within fruity, as i only see editable ones that come with fruity itself? how can i do this to any other of my vst-i's? ( i mean record their movements, i know it can be done, i just havent figured it out yet!)

cheers for the info guys

The Gakstoar Delta has an enhanced Envelope which can be applied to the pitch, cut off and amplitude. Plus the modulation matrix allows you to route the attack/delay/decay equipped LFOs all over the shop, creating complex modulation possibilites - great for pads. Why more peeps don't rave about this thing I'll never know! The new version looks pretty awesome.

I am still working on Broadcaster VST, the ultimate envelope control unit for internal effects + control over other VSTi!
Good news: release is getting closer!

Oh, and a (now pretty old) preview version can be downloaded from my site. The current version has 2 nasty bugs still left (that I know of), once these have been fixed, final beta testing will commence...

Cheers

Yowza... Toby, that's looking wicked!
I didn't know broadcaster would be able to control other VSTs as well - great news cos I've been looking for something to do just that (and was planning to make one myself - unnecessary now tho').

Can't wait for cubase SX - whack broadcaster in the midi insert slot that points to another VST and viola! instant crazy enevlopes on any parameter? [fingers crossed]

mmmmm.... [Big Grin]

PS - prophet - I've managed to hack together a couple of midi control VSTs from Delphi example projects kindly distributed by Tobybear and Fred Vanmol.
One has 8 LFOs, another is a simple pad that can control two midi cc at the same time and the last is a step sequencer (like the Matrix sequencer in Reason) - great for torturing Midi responsive VSTs like Triangle2 [Big Grin]

They're still pretty buggy at the mo' tho' cos my programming ain't really up to scratch - when I reckon they're finished enough (and stop crashing my bloody machine!) I'll try find somewhere on the net to stick em up.
regards,
dunk
