Hm. Reaktor has always worked, never had a problem with the dongle either except for a couple of brief flashes that went by too quick to see but seemed to "searching for..." kind of things. The problem with M-Audio ASIO and Reaktor seems to gone with the latest Audiophile drivers, disabling the multiclient function stops the screaming sound I used to get.
But the Kontakt demo crashes the computer and the Battery demo won't open at all. The Battery problem seems to be ASIO related- as a standalone it won't open and says that some other app has the soundcard (doesn't). It'll open as a VSTi in different hosts no problem, until the host is switched to ASIO driver then it's reboot time! ![]()

I had that problem with Battery. I had to do some registry tweaking and basically make Battery start without a soundcard driver selected, otherwise it would never come up on the screen.

Hypertone: I have the same problem with my aardvark and NI demo's. They always want to grab the MME drivers first and then crash inmediatly. They won't even let me switch to asio. How do you proceed to do this registry settings?

quote:I cant remember exactly what I did, It was basically trial and error. I dont have access to my audio puter right now, but when I get a chance Ill look in the registry and see if I can remember what I did. I have an Aardvark card too btw with XP. Id say they still have some bugs to iron out on their drivers. ASIO is good, but MME and DX apps are sketchy on the Aardvark.

Open Regedit, goto Local Machine/Software/Native Instruments/Product Name, change Key AudioPort to None. This should help.

quote:Thanks! Strangley enough there is no Native Instruments folder or file of any kind in Local Machine (I've got Reaktor and the latest NI demos loaded) but it's all under "Current User". There are strange things in the registry, things I never loaded Cakewalk folder? There's never been any Cakewalk anything on the computer AFAIK...no cracks either, it's my darling super-clean audio-only studio computer. Time for some registry sweep action
Anyway Battery demo is now fully functioning! It still briefly shows the audio port message, then loads right up. The envelope grapics are genius- very intuitive.

Try this:
HKEY Current User>Native Instruments>Battery Then make the "audioport" value blank Make "audio running" value "no" Make "MME OUT PORT" blank Make "MME IN PORT" blank This should make it possible to open up Battery. When you open it make sure audio is not running, then select your audio port, wait about 10 seconds and enable audio. This should do it. I havent tried Kontakt, but I imagine it would be the same.

I have the same problem. I use an Audiophile 24/96 and have had no such problems w/ any NI product before. But when trying to load Kontakt, I get the message "the kontakt did not initialize". Furthermore, when I tried to open Cubase, it wouldn't start. So I removed Kontakt and that problem went away.
So I check my reg. Interestingly, I find nothing under HKEY/Local Machine/Software/Native Instruments. For me to find anything in the reg for NI, I had to look under Current User/Software. I found the Kontakt entries there, and tried a few tweaks to no avail. Tried the ones above. Tried copying my entries related to the sound and soundcard from Battery and Pro 52, but no luck either. So...is this a serious bug in their program? Or is there a fix? I emailed NI, but no response. Logoslogos |
