Posted: 10th June 2002 17:37
First of all download the latest free Machine II with a few fixes at Machine II web page

Then check out the 3 FREE drum kits by Scot Solida. Each kit contains about 20 samples and some demo patterns. Industrial, Modular and Synth.

Check out. Talking about pro stuff here [Eek!]

Should keep you buzy for a dew days [Big Grin]

You're not joking Jorgen! [Big Grin]

Scot's done a sterling job with both the sounds and the patterns [Cool]

...don't know how I missed this the first time 'round... [Confused]

Ooops - forgot to ask [Embarrassed] : are there any plans to extend the Machine II feature set?

I have some plans, yes.

More per-step control like coarse tune, pan.

Internal vst fx routing and/or multiple outs.

Some predefined groove's would be nice, but I'm not so good at making them myself. And maybe a groove amount slider.

Destructive sample editing using vst fx's. With preview and undo.

Loading samples with params from mpk's on disk.

Loop "sliding". Load a loop and use the cutoff, volume, coarse sliders to manipulate the sample while decaying.

Velocity modulation

Ring.mod or driving a drum sample thru a sin wave could be cool.

Different play modes for live using. Note on starts pattern, second note on stops pattern etc.

Voice groups

Nicer gui

Different decay curve styles

What did you have in mind?

Damn Scot, those three kits are excellent!! Especially loving the Industrial kit (big surprise, eh? [Big Grin] )

jorgen: amazing how great this sounds while playing with Energy Pro at the same time! [Smile] Aaahhh, grooves galore...

Thanks Jorgen, Andy and Har!
Glad you liked them. All of them were created from scratch (as are ALL the samples I create), no sampled materials used. I used some old analogs, additive and FM synths as well as some virtual softsynths and effects. Actually, I'm liking the "Industrial" kit too! My contest entry this month is exactly as you describe, Har: Machine II sync'ed up with Energy (the free one, in keeping with the "ex" freeware stipulation), plus a couple other freebies. Har, you'll like it, it's kind of like Tangerine Dream meets industrial!

All Hail Scott Solida and the makers of Energy and Machine!!!!!!!!!!!!

I overlooked Energy and now realize how fecking incredible this thing is. Then I decided to give machine 2 a try. Holy shit!! These two are incredible. Those guys will get my money in exactly one day!

I'm so excited, I just love these things. I could have so much fun with them.

Scott your kits are the icing on the cake. I would have paid money for the industrial kit alone. Thanks alot man.

I lurve you guys.

cheers,
dw

Hey Dusted...
Glad you dig the industrial kit! I'm afraid you give me too much credit for this stuff, though. I just made the sounds for those three kits. Jorgen is the brains behind Massiva, Machine II and Energy Pro. I'm just a happy Energy Pro customer who made Jorgen some drum samples for his cool Machine II.

I think you pretty much covered everything I would have suggested Jorgen! [Big Grin]

Great work though, even without the above additional features. [Cool]

Just checked it out: excellent!!! Exactly as you described. [Smile] Heh...the more I work with Energy Pro, the more I'm loving it to death.

Hmmmm, you know, I think I'm finally gonna have to enter one of these contests myself. Perhaps next month. Maybe I'll even throw some vocals on it, but it'll be tough to beat The Donk-Ster's.... [Big Grin]

Har, thanks for your concern. The fires are north of here, and moving in the opposite direction. As an asthmatic, it's neccessary for me to stay inside for a few days. Real scary stuff, though. Lots of people (and I mean LOTS) are being forced to evacuate from certain areas. It doesn't help that we are having record-high temperatures and no rain. Yikes.

Har, thanks for listening. I thought you'd like it. I'm going to do a longer version, soon.

Realmarco...
If you are interested in the drumkits I made for Machine II, I can upload the raw .wav files to my site tonight. There's around sixty of them, if you want to download them. Cool?

You might already know this, but Tony put those .wav files on our site last night. Realmarco, you can now download them and drag them into Battery! By the way, I take it as a compliment to have been "Realmarco'ed"! You can find the link in our "news" blurb. URL in my signature below...
Enjoy
