Nice job, Scot.
I was hesitated about upgrading to DeltaIII in the first place, even though old users have an upgrade offer that's almost impossible to refuse. I thought I already have way too many synths. And although the beta/demo sounds good, yet they are a bit plain, compared to lots of other VSTis recently released. I was wrong. There'll always be a place on my PC for DeltaIII.
DeltaIII doesn't boast with onboard effects like most of the recent plugs do. (the two fxs included are minimal--mainly for the compensation of the removal of filter-panning that was in the DeltaII, I guess) However, DeltaIII is much more effcient than DeltaII, now I can have more instances/timbres running at the same time, that allows me to apply effects of my choice, adding up a very rich melody. Also worth mentioning, the manual of DeltaIII is one of the best I've ever seen. DeltaIII is definitely on par with PentagonI. Anyone who's looking for a major synth should never overlook DeltaIII. Tks to Kevvvv. Or I could have missed it.

Thanks, Wall.
I really like this synth, and hope Peter sells billions of them. It's funny, because of the price-point, it ought to begger comparison to Pentagon 1, but they are very different beasties to my mind. I think the Delta III probably should be compared to modular devices, and then it starts to become apparent what kind of a bargain it really is. I can get sounds out of this that I've only been able to coax out of my Nord MicroModular. It would be perfect for someone who wants the flexibility of a modular, but might be a little put off by the (sometimes needless) complexities of, say, Reaktor or SynC. Pentagon 1, on the other hand, is "hard-wired" and makes me work in different (though equally useful) ways. I don't think I'd want to have to choose between the two. And at $99 each, thankfully, it's easy to have both.

Looking at the envelopes per oscillator, is it safe to assume that thing is a pad beast? ![]()

Totally agree with you, Scot. I also purchased PentagonI, too.
Just as you said, they are different. I love them both and would suggest ppl getting both if possible. From the price tag, they're competitive. We know the rep of Pentagon has already been built to top. I just wish, if ppl have to choose one, they could give DeltaIII a serious consideration... ![]()

lwg, yeah, great for pads and then some.
Make a lead and throw some decent distortion fx on it...it can scream, too. Not in the exactly same way as BEAST does, though. ![]() |
