Hi all,

I am another happy user of the fantastic synth FM7.
Does Onyone know where can i find more good presets for it ?
I've already tried that ones on yahoo group.
Thank You.

Have you tried any of the 50 billion patches for the dx7, tx81 etc that are out there? fm7 can read them, and with the built in fx make them come alive again!

I have about 5000 of them (loads of duplicates in there I think), downloaded from several places. I'm going to zip them up and put them on my site for download as soon as I get the FM7 review finished (2-3 weeks).

Although it very obviously has many good sounds, I have to confess to not being an FM7 fan. Maybe it's because I was never a DX fan either.

But I had the chance to have a go of the FM7 Sounds Vol 1 presets from NI and thought they were really good.

It's as though instead of just doing more pingy-digital DX type stuff, the programmer has tried to get more out of the FM7, stretched it in a new direction.

They're 50 euros for the set, but maybe they're worth it, as the Electrix presets were to the Pro-52.

Anyone else tried FM7 Vol 1?

(i am also an fm fan: my first computer was a yamahaCX5(=8 dx9), i had a dx7, now i own a tx7. i have programmed, in the '80s, professionally some banks for an italian sound factory with my cx5 then on atariST)

Yasodanandana,

As you have experience in FM programming yourself, you know it's not about skill (well, it is of course), but it's mainly about available time.... and that is something I don't have to much these days Very Happy

Bang on, yaso and CW Arrow

The time thing IS the thing.

Example: I think Crystal is amazing, but I never get past the presets as Crystal programming is necessarily complex.

ditto VAZ 2010

ditto Anarchy Effects

ditto Element P

ditto Ohmboyz stuff

ditto new hosts

The list could go on.

On the other hand, Sonic Synth, Slayer, Virtual Guitar, any subtractive synth or standard effect, get used frequently as I can work very quickly with them.

It would be no surprise to know many of us here had exactly the same time problem.

We can stretch the timeline, but not the dayline Very Happy

(When I was a kid and was unemployed for months on end, I would have loved all this kit and happily spent all week just on one new effect Very Happy )

i have the FM7 vol 1 sounds.. i like them alot..

also i know all too well FM synthesis (shout out to the 'i hate CSound crew')
...

the presets are good to begin the tweeking. the FM7 vol1 loops are pretty inventive and a good starting point as thats the most time consuming thing to do with FM7 is good rythmic stuffs.

there are some top warm pads that are just good to go as is also... 256 presets is kinda weak tho for 50bux.
