Ok, I'm poor, and currently trying to save money to move from MA to CO (for those outside the US- suffice it to say really far)... but I've made the mistake of downloading the Slayer demo, and now I've decided I can't live without it (damn you reFX!). I keep saying "ach, it's only $60"- but I'll be mighty pissed if I end up $60 short on gas/food money for the trip... not to mention I can't be sure what my financial situation will be once I get there.
It's been ages since I spent any money on toys, though... I think I deserve a reward for my responsibility.

Just don' t think about it. My bank account balance is almost always negative...but I'm buying synths and new toys every couple of days...

Once you've spent your sixty bucks, you'll still make it out here! We need more electronic musicians here under the mountains...

Ah, thanks guys... I knew I could count on the KVR crew to talk me more into plunkin' down some cash on toys. Sorry penguin dude, but there's nothing in Texas but beers, steers, & queers, isn't that the saying?

Why are you leaving MA? The nice harsh winter is coming soon.
| synthgeek | Posted: 11th September 2002 20:10 | |||||
You just answered your own question there, Kajiki. Actually, it's because my mom's boyfriend bought a house there, and they want my help fixing it up. Free room & board, & I get along with both of them, so why not? Plus, one of my old friends from WI wants to take a road trip & offered to help me move if I pay for gas, and I've never been further west than Minnesota, so... off I go. It's too damn expensive to live here in MA anyway- and waay too crowded! I would've liked to experience a bit more of Boston before I left, but oh well. Oh, and by the way- I placed the order for Slayer... sending the money order tomorrow (no credit card). So expect to hear some amatuerish wannabe guitar noodling over in the Cafe soon...

I've seen some great prices on alpha juno's out there... real cheap and really cool

Oooh yeah... the only thing better is playing with it once it comes.
Uh-oh, maybe we need a support group... I'll start- Hi, my name is Kevin, and I'm a compulsive gear whore.
Oh, no... don't even get started with the hardware- I spotted an AX-80 for a relatively small chunk o' change a while ago, and it's all I can do to keep from buying it. That's it, I'm gonna rob a bank & go on a gear-buying spree...

Yup...I got my alpaha juno(2) used for somewhere just over a hundred bucks with no warrantee and magically fixed the small problem it had through a thread with Scot Solida...I hope you can find one as cheap...

I already succumbed. I am taking a loan from my dad to buy a QS7 as a master controller/"I I ever get to play a gig" board prog (destined to never have any savings)

Hey...I moved halfway around the world with very little money and I certainly spent a little before I left to make myself happy/comfortable. The move is a chore(I did it before within the country, state to state too), but this small purchase will be your bit of yourself you're kind of taking with you to sustain that part of your life. It'll be something you can look at, play with and be happy about after the move and after you get your studio set up then hopefully pick up where you left off or even a step ahead! |
