I bought NI Battery today - i know, it's not as powerful as DR-008, but i like it's interface. Anyway, i was wondering why all the preset kits are mapped out so strangely. It's kinda sorta in the basic GM format, but not really. How do you set up drum maps (i think they are called) to correspond with a sequencer - i'm getting SX in a couple of days, and i was wondering if Battery's kit's would match up with the drum editor. If not, how do i match it up? Anyone kow what i'm asking, and anyone know the answer?
Thanks! | ||

You have to make your own drum maps, or grab them from people who have already made them (I have some for wizoo kits).

Does Battery allow for any waveform editing or trimming at all within it's user interface? I've been curious about this.

For cubase .. well I usually make my own. I remember someone once posted drum maps for wizoo kits on cubsae.net. Thats where I got the ones I have.
Addition .. after seeing real marco's post, I should have added that I don't use battery

No destructive editing - but you can adjust sample start points, and you can use a "no-release" envelope to stop a sample playing beyond a certain point. It's pretty easy to isolate single hits or notes in a loop.

Well I wouldn't call it less powerfull than DR008 at all. DR008 has cool drumsynths built it and a few different samplers you can use per pad but Battery has one that covers pretty much all you need.. Battery supports multi-samples better than DR008 (In my oppinion) and loads lm4 banks flawlessly (as well as good sf2 integration).. Although I might prefer DR008 for creating kits because of the shear speed and ease of use.. |
