i'm just enjoying the delights of my 30day demo...i never got to try it before the upgrade, because it said i'd timed out. Sad

i've been experimenting with RX2 files.. they are working flawlessly. It makes recycle worth owning again Very Happy I say that because i never got REX files to load properly in cubase...

this is now smoother than a babies bottom Very Happy

Now..Question.. in the "Sampler INstrument" folder a new "recycle audio" folder has been created. In it, surprisingly enough, are the .aifs from the recycled material i've been using.

can i move it to my 2nd HD..or will logic freak..put another one in it's place..and start a power struggle with me ? Very Happy

2nd question.. this is REALLY simple.. Embarassed

how do i just load a plain old .wav or .aif into EXS? i've only discovered how to get it read RX2 and .exs files

i'd love to be able to convert a load of stuff, before my demo runs out, and i have to go back to using the EXSP24... Rolling Eyes

maybe there will have to be another purchase!

hehe Laughing

great sampler Very Happy

don't bite my head off, for the easy questions..but the demo doesn't come with a manual..

Hi Fitch - I've not been using Rex files because I don't have Recycle but I have the same problem when I want to get EXS to convert soundfonts - it insists that it will only recognise and convert them if they are in the folder it tells you to put them in - there is no option I can find to browse to another folder or choose a common folder (I'd really prefer to keep all my samples in one central place and enable all my programs to dip into it instead of having dupes all over my harddrive).

I agree its a lovely Sampler but like Logic it seems very inflexible in certain areas. I can't find any way around this apart from maybe (just thought of this - I'll try it) creating a shortcut to the common folder and give it the same name as the folder EXS wants to use - have you tried that?

Right - I just tested this idea out - moved my soundfont samples folder to my C drive (EXS is on drive D) and created a shortcut with the same name in the EXS folder - it took a little while to think about it but it now plays OK - to test it further I placed a new soundfont in the Sampler instruments folder (still on drive D) and it converted it and placed the new files in the new C drive folder - so far a success (I hope - fingers and toes crossed).

So maybe you could try something similar with your aiffs from Recycle - good luck.

hi Claire...

to load aiff, click edit button, and select 'load multiple samples' from one ov the drop down menus....think its 'zones' or 'groups'....dont have exs on this machine so cant check which one Wink

hope this helps

HI Kol. Very Happy thanks for the tip..

i've been trying to do that all afternoon Sad but, the zone, group and view menu are greyed out.

maybe it's because it's a demo?

..the fact that everything is greyed out make me wonder

is it because I haven't saved the previous song ..up to that point

is it because i was messing with the multiple output version

i've tried all sorts of things

mmm..

aMUSEd ..Hiya Very Happy

thak sounds like a good idea..i'm going to go and have a go now...I'm not quite sure what you mean about "making a short cut"..is it obvious. I'll go and see anyway Very Happy

thanks

Oh - do you have a Mac - I think they're called alaises on the Mac aren't they - maybe it won't work the same way though

fitch, open the editor in exs and make a zone (menu...zone/new zone) then double ckick the space next to "audio file" and select your desired wav/aif.

if you have multiple samples to load, do the "load multiple samples" thing

...then the option "chromatic" will put several samples chromatically next to each other..e.g. for drumbanks..

hope this helps,

peace, moritz

aahh.. thanks moritz Very Happy

i just tried the zone, group, view menus with a .exs instrument..and they weren't greyed..so i knew there had to be a way round it Very Happy

aMused..i just tried the alias trick...

it went and made another recycle folder, in my sampler instruments folder..

power struggle was predicted Laughing Surprised

Did you give it exactly the same name as the original? It certainly works for the soundfont samples folder.

Very Happy on a mac..when you make an alias.. everything is exactly the same, just a double, or link to where you have the original.

so i didn't change it at all Very Happy

it's actually making me giggle, to think that software can be so bloody minded! Laughing

i'll keep experimenting..there has to be a way ..

i discovered moritz.. i have to select "new" from the instrument menu first..then all the menus are useable, not greyed out.

i told you, i'm a bit dim sometimes Very Happy

thatīs right, you have to create a new instrument first of all..
