You know, I'm normally quite prejudiced against Synthedit synths. Don't ask me why, but for some reason I just feel that plain ol'fashioned coding the hard way is better in the long run.
That said, I have seen a few truly original plugins made with Synthedit, and this sounds like one of them. I'm willing to give it a go! Problem is, I don't use Soundfonts. Can anyone point me to a link where I can grab some free Soundfonts with which to test this beastie? Thanx, -K

I downloaded, but when I unzipped it, it says beta02a.
bluedad by the way, played a bit with it this morning, and it's pretty cool. (but my left ear is still ringing!)

Sounds good, but playing 1 note on the old supercomputer wangs up the cpu load to about 20%, any way of reducing this ?(actually a lot of the synthedit synths are cpu hungry, guess its just not as efficient as ones written from scratch).

Experimentfour,
This is a great idea. I confirm : 1 - The download link gets you to bet02 (no flanger) 2 - donkey tugger's CPU was not enough it ate also quite a large section of mine. Regards, PA

OK, CPU hungry eh? Let's see what it'll do to my P200

oops !!
... for the second time today ive been a tad stoopid ... updated the little webpage and posted the link here but didnt actually upload the new file ... DOH !! anyway ... fixed now ... the link points to the real beta03 file kerrydan ... theres a soundfont link in the readme file everyone else ... yup it is kinda cpu hungry [partially synthedit ... partially the convoluted fsu wiring under the hood on this line ... any mileage in hacking together a 'lite' version ... one oscilator ... one lfo ... cut-down effects section ... cheers ps ... other stuff possibly on the way too ... crappy

for those of you who have tried this and been put off by any 'cant find ... /soundfont/vox.sf2' meesages ...
.. firstly apologies ... whats happening is that fontaminator is looking for the soundfont i was playing [for testing] when it was compiled ... this is a glitch with synthedit [it holds on to the last used soundfont file ... afaik there is no way to 'clear' the soundfont manager at present ... i just mailed jeff to ask ... ] ... ... all you need to do is click on 'load' in the soundfont manager window and browse to whatever soundfont you want to play / mangle ... ... hopes this helps some folks ... ... cheers

Rob, don't hate me or anything, but I can't make out the white lettering in the top left corner of your GUI. The white on white is a little hard on my eyes - could just be me... No one else has mentioned it yet, but I wish you had just went a little more gray or whatever with the whiter end of the gradient...
| pHz | Posted: 23rd October 2002 12:34 |
fair comment res ... the gui is far from finalised so your wish may well be my command ... cheers

It's strange. When I save a song and then load it, I get that eror about not finding that vox soundfont again. It doesn't load in the Soundfont I had in the song. That's irritating.
Otherwise, this is lots of fun. Thanks for changing its name from Container.

Brilliant VSTi It took out Orion at 111% cpu- but what doesn't? (I think Orion has AMD issues anyway- I have an 850) and the Fontaminator GUI won't came back properly until I reboot- what's with that anyway BTW I just checked-seems happy in FL! Cheers Chi >^.^< PS anyone mentioned www.thesoundsite.net ? Great site!

pHz,
Interesting concept, but difficult to test properly due to the very low volume of the output. Even with the mono button it only reaches the first level marker in Massiva! Cheers, Dave
| pHz | Posted: 26th October 2002 00:00 |
thx for the comment dave ... youre not the first to mention the volume thing ... but to be entirely honest ... i forgot to put it on my worklist for fontaminator ... cheers
| CoreTrooper | Posted: 26th October 2002 00:14 |
one question does it work n fruityloops? synthedit and fruity don't seem to mix
| pHz | Posted: 26th October 2002 00:20 |
core ... ive had reports both ways ... some say it works fine ... some say it wont load soundfonts in fruity ... i dont have the app so i dont know [might d.l the demo though] ... id say try it and let me know ... if it is a synthedit / fruity issue all pass it in to jeff to ee if theres owt he can do ...
... cheers |
