Hi,
i just got my NI Synthetic Drums CD with plenty of new Battery kits, so I thought it would be nice to have Drummaps for Cubase SX. Unfortunately the drummaps are not included, and manually editing them is so cumbersome So I wrote a little program that does job (Note: it ony works with SX, VST has a different drm format) Fette Töle

Hope, you come to grips with the tool, although it's not too user-friendly (well I spent less than an hour for writing it). However, some people seem to have problems with a command line interface and using Java, so I'm going to give the tool a nice (well, err, functional) graphical user interface. As I'm quite busy with other things, this won't be ready before the weekend.
In the meantime you can go to my site and download ready-made drumkits for NI Synthetic Drums which were generated by the tool. Fette Töle

Unfortunately not, since nki-Files are in a binary format (unlike kit files) and i have no clue how they are structured. Another point is, that for Battery, I basically extract the cell label and the associated keys to generate the drummap entries. In Kontakt however, the individual keys (keyzones) don't have a name (afaik), so I could not assign a useful name to the corresponding drummap entry apart from the note names (e.g. C1). However, as for the Synthetic Drums, I guess the key assignments of individual samples is the same for both the Battery kits and Kontakt instruments. So you should be able to use the drummaps generated for the Battery kits also for the corresponding nki-Files. But I can't say for sure since I don't own Kontakt. Fette Töle

Can you tool be used on a Macintosh, inside some sort of Java anviroment? I'm very interested in it (just wondering why NI didn't include drum maps inside the Battery Studio Drums disc) but I'm on a mac platform
Thanks in advance Project

Yep, the tool is just simple,plain Java, so it should be "write once, run everywhere".
You just need to invoke the tool as described on my website (but I have no clue how to invoke a command line tool on Mac). If you have problems using the tool, you could just send me the kit-files of your Studio Drums (I don't own them myself). I would then generate the drummaps for you and put the drummaps for download on my website. Fette Töle

If you can wait till Thursday night, I'll make the .drm files and email them to you - I do have Studio Drums.

Thanks a lot Fette for writing this tool and for your offer of generating the drum maps; I was ready to send you the kits files then I read the Trojan post. Thanks a lot to you too Trojan, I can definitively wait until sunday. What can I say more... this place is really great

Thanks to Trojan Badger, you can now also download drum maps generated by my tool for the Battery Standard Kits and the NI Studio Drums from my website.
On my website, you will also find drummaps for the Battery kits available here at the K-v-R banks/patches section. Thanks again, Trojan Badger, for doing the conversion. Fette Töle

any way to have these converted to VST format?
| Fette Töle | Posted: 1st November 2002 12:09 | |
@dasha462
Unfortunately not. VST uses an binary format for drum maps which I have no clue how it is structured. So I cannot generate it directly. I didn't find an option like "save as vst drum map" in SX either. Fette Töle |
