It's sort of a six-month birthday celebration for Crystal (six updates in six months! I'm not sure I'll be able to keep that up.), and I've marked the occasion by redesigning the web site.

There have been a number of news items recently regarding Crystal and you'll find those on the News page. If you haven't already done so, visit the Patches page while you're there and download user bank number 2 for a fresh set of sounds for Crystal. Also note that the user guide has been revamped and is now up-to-date with version 1.5.

As always, any feedback is appreciated.

Surprised For a product that's only 6 months old, it is remarkably stable and useful. It's becoming a regular in my VSTi tray!

Keep up the good work!

A lot of people have been asking about version 2.0. Here's the scoop:

Version 2.0 will be available exclusively on the cover CD of the next Computer Music magazine (issue 54). That will be out around 23 November.

Version 2.1 will be available as a free download from the crystal web site like all previous versions. I don't know yet when it will be ready, but I would guess around christmas at the earliest.

The GUI in version 2.0 only has some minor tweaks, it has not been redesigned. When you see the new features in 2.0 I think you'll understand that I already had my hands full Smile.

Thank you for this great little synth. I've been having a lot of fun tweaking the preset patches. I love Kritikon's and Alex's especially.

Very Happy Woo! You're a star Glenn! Major props to you for keeping Crystal freeware - it's a great synth and could easily be sold. I hope you're getting what you want from it.
Can't wait til next CM issue now Wink

Glenn, THANK you very much for your great work, and looking forward to v2.0 and v2.1. Now, if I'm gonna read between the lines, do you mean that in v2.1 we will have a new GUI? Wink

You're reading a bit too much into it Smile. It depends on how smoothly things go with 2.0, and what people's reactions are to it, but I'll see what I can do.

Everyone has moaned like fuck about the GUI, and you wont please anyone Glenn. The point is, its a complex synth, and at the end of the day everything is cleary labeled, so you can see whats going on. Its not the best looking GUI in the world, but thats pretty irrelevant when you consider that the point of the synth is to make quality sounds, not provide eye candy.

Thank you and goodbye Wink

Agreed, the more complex a synth is the more the focus should be on things like operability and clarity.

both things are given in crystal, imo..

Glenn,

I don't think I've ever said thanks for Crystal. As many have mentioned it is certainly a plugin that could be sold and would without doubt sell well. So it is a gift as well as a wonderfully deep synthesizer.

Best of luck, hopefully you are gaining a reputation which is well deserved.

Crystal 2 sound like it will be incredible.
