I'm thinking of purchasing Kontakt. Is it like getting Battery with more options???Or are they both that different?

im a battery nut, and have only played with the demo of kontakt, but in some ways they're quite different. If i want to quickly rearrange a loop/ put one together from single hits/ generally play with a beat or a bassline, battery is quicker and in my experience more stable. on the other hand if you want to totally transform a sound with a heap of effects and resynthesis, youd have to go with kontakt.

Thanks for the tip! It seems Kontakt does the same plus more. It just takes a bit more time to do it in Kontakt. If that's the case, I'll go Kontakt.

In many ways Kontakt is Battery with more options, but you can do the most drumoriented stuff quicker with Battery. Kontakt can do some serious mangling of samples and the modulation possibilities are much greater than with Battery. If you need to play multisampled instrument, you will need something like Kontakt too. Putt simply, Battery is great for single hits and Kontakt is the best for playing melodic instruments.

If you will use everything that Kontakt does, get it. If you don't need all those extra features then get Battery. That may sound like an obvious statement but I am totally serious. I have both and I use Battery much, much, much more than Kontakt. With the difference you can buy PhatmaticPro and some sample sets.

Yeah, I have both and lurv battery. But if you want to be able to mess with samples more (timestretch and stuff like that) then Kontakt is ace. But again, I use battery more as it is quicker to get into. Kontakt can also load the comercial NI Synth Drums pack, only you get more effects in Kontact on the drums than in Battery.
