I'm very interested to know if anyone has tried this program? I can't find a single review or user comment on the web or Usenet. Most synthesised ochestral sound I've heard sound pretty tinny and I wondered if this was any different?

I bought this recently, and I consider it to be good value, especially for the woodwinds and brass. The orchestral percussion is very good too. Strings not bad at all. Piano a bit weak, but the harp is good....all things considered it's quite an achievement for a single-CD sample set. Editing is adequate (envelopes,filters...and a "color" parameter similar to Kurzweil's sample keyshift ...effectively remapping a multisample up or down, for a duller or brighter effect).MIDI controllers can be remapped anywhere, although there is no aftertouch at all. I like the interface very much too. Not too processor heavy either.

I notice the cost listed on the review page Ben pointed to is $169. A quick look at the SamAsh web site list it as over $300. Which is correct?

They quote 398 Euros on the Edirol UK website:

That's £250 Sterling - the usual UK ripoff. Sad

Thanks for the feedback, vic_france - I think it might suit me pretty well. And thanks to Ben for the link. I searched the forums but not the review section.

Doh. Shocked

Yeah, I'm also wondering where they found Orchestral for $169! The cheapest price I saw was $274, from YourEQ.com ---the online store I ultimately purchased it from. I just got it yesterday and haven't really had a chance to try it out, so I can't really tell you if it's any good or not. I thought that the sound samples on the Edirol website sounded good enough, although I'd be interested to know how they put those tracks together. Anyway, I bought it as a birthday present to myself! I'll keep you posted as (more accurately, IF Confused) I get it to work right.
