i've been looking for a simple drum sampler, which has not too much CPU load. what i want it to do:
- easily load my WAV files - can pitch shift the samples - has multiple outputs i tried kontakt, fruity loops, halion but those are took a lot from my CPU. anyone can help me? thanx in advance,

Try :
SR202 if you want summat cheap and can get hold of Computer Music. DR005 is free as well. DR008 if you have some money, and will want a fully-featured drum sampler/synthesiser in future

Iv'e been using Loopazoid for it's simplicity. You can also export Drum kits to be loaded as instruments into Battery later on.

I'd have to second LoopAZoid for its simplicty as well. Very handy little VST instrument.
It accomplishes the first and last items you're looking for, but unfortunately doesn't have a feature to pitch shift samples. On the plus side, for each sample you load, it automatically assigns a MIDI key to play the same sample reversed. That's useful. The multiple outs work well, and it even has three choke groups to which samples can be assigned. I also second SR202. It's not as immediately intuitive as LoopAZoid, but it's synthesis features (pitch shifting, filters, etc.) are extremely versatile. -K

LM4 MkII is wonderfully simple, just powerful enough, and pretty easy on cpu. not sure what it costs though; I upgraded from the earlier version which I think was less. check it out though.

rm2 or rmIII will do the job...

does rmIII have polyphonic pads? if I remember right, last time I checked it didn't.

RMF (linplug) or DR-005 (fxpansion) should just do exactly what you're asking for and they are free. Loopazoid has no pitch shifting, from what I remember. If you want more options in the future, DR-008 (or eventually Battery) might be the tools of your choice.
Apart from that, if you don't use any filters or further FX, both HALion and Kontakt shouldn't use up noticeably more CPU power when being used as simple one-shot drumsamplers. Regards, Sascha

If you want a simple drumsampler chose a free one. They can do exactly want you want and you can put your money on women and beer.

Battery's worth it I reckon, I'd be stuffed without it. Plus the library it comes with is not to be sniffed at, and the enw expansion library is dazzling. |
