Raven, you lucky b*st*rd!!!! I MUST get that thing! I will have to do some serious re-organizing of the budget! In the meantime, I hope you will give us sordid details about the treasures hidden within...? Try not to hurt yourself doing those cartwheels. You wouldn't want to injure your "pointing and clicking" wrist!

Unfortunately, my creativity has seemed to dry up Crying or Very sad
atmosphere is another want on my list.

You should check with Ilio....

But I figure they've all been sent out at the same time, so they should be there in the next few day's...

My bet will be on the "Romeo and Juliet" patch. Every beta tester used this patch in their demos...I actually had to put a restriction on it because everyone was wearing it out.

I'm curious to see who will use it first on a record....it's destined to be one of those very recognizable sounds.

Either that or "Apocalyptic Drone" That's another one that people seemed to gravitate towards.

Looking forward to you guys' comments......been too long just talking about it myself on kvr!

best,

spectrum

PS. Just for the skeptical, there's tons of material there....so it's not like Atmosphere itself will get "worn out" anytime soon, but there are definitely a couple of patches that fall into the "that sound" camp.

This is very Frustrating.... I called AudioMIDI and they said that they would not have your Product until the first of the MONTH? Mad

I told them that a UK distributer had it already, and they did not beleive me at first... they thought your product was made in the UK ....

anyway they said that they were going to call Spectrasonics to find out????

I sure hope that it is not another 18 days before I get it Sad Sad

Well this sucks Crying or Very sad

here is the email that I got from AudioMidi

"Charlie,

I just spoke with Todd at Illio He said that Spectrasonic shipped to the
UK early due to customs. He said he will ship the US orders to retailers
like us on the 3rd of December. It is available from them to end users
such as yourself starting tomorrow the 15th but it would be at full
retail.

Hope this info helps."

Damn! I also ordered from audiomidi Sad

Hey NerOz...easy....

ILIO is our distributor in the US and they have it shipping in the US already to their direct customers. I said before that the distributors would get it first, and then the dealers (AudioMIDI is a dealer). ILIO's policy is usually that they fill their direct orders first (and those guys are usually paying full price). You should call ILIO if you want it sooner, or ask them when AudioMIDI will get it.

All of that sales stuff is out of my hands....it's up to each individual distributor to decide how they distribute Atmosphere in their territory. Spectrasonics doesn't sell direct to customers or dealers, only through our distributor network.

Won't be long though...either way. Cool

All the best,

spectrum

Diverting slightly ...

I had the card out and was about to order Atmosphere when I saw that the memory requirement for Atmosphere on a PC is 512MB -- seems like a lot!

Anyway, I have 384MB. Would I be able to use Atmosphere to any reasonable degree with 384MB? I'm not planning on increasing my RAM until I get a new box -- probably in a few months. Should I hold off on buying Atmosphere?

Thanks for any advice.

Jim

You can use it...but you'll be limited in how many you can open and how many of the large patches you can load.

You can get started with it -be good for at least a few instances, depending on which sounds you load.

I would actually recommend getting 1gb of RAM or more...not because it is necessary to run one Atmosphere, but because you will like it so much that you will want to have tons of them open at the same time! (this is pretty much what happens with everyone who tries it) Cool

You have a Mac or Windows machine?

Windows is probably a little more forgiving on the memory management side.

Best,

Thanks for the fast response, Spectrum.

I have a PC. My next machine will have 1GB -- or possibly 2GB. Smile Meanwhile, it sounds like I should be able to use Atmosphere if I'm careful.

Ok, out comes the card again. Very Happy

Cheers.

No apologies necessary nerOz!

Hey...without Gearaholics like you, I wouldn't have a business!

It's quite a nice feeling to have worked so hard on something for a very long time, and then have people like you so stoked to get it....that kind of enthusiasm makes it all worth it!

Don't ever change! Very Happy Smile Cool

Just got a call from Digital Village saying they have one in stock for me..... Great, I was a but bummed that I was going to have to wait until Monday, no weekend tweaking! Is also good as I am working on the next release for my label and so I am looking forward to trying out Atmos on one of the mixes....

I have a real dilemma at the moment as I am basically only using soft synths and dsp cards these days (and a suitcase rhodes) and could do with a bit more ram that 512, unfortunately that means upgrading to XP which means that one of the best pieces of kit (my oasys card) will have to go, or be put in another machine......... I guess that i will have to take the plunge sooner or later.

Cheers

Question

Hm, sometimes I wonder about product pricing:

Atmosphere is
$399 at Spectrasonics
$369 at AudioMIDI

well... I just compared it with Stylus pricing because I recently bought it at my local dealer

$299 at Spectrasonics
$279 at AudioMIDI
$210 in Switzerland Very Happy

I'm interested to know about prices in Europe specially in south Germany... Putte?
clarida
Posted: 15th November 2002 06:55
Hi Pepe,

I don't know about price's in other country's, but Atmos is £225 and Stylus is £159 here in the UK.
You can also get the Euro pricing from our website...
