| Author | Topic: Anyone using Virsyn Terra with Cubase SX? |

Hi, my first post here (though I've been lurking for a while now I've been playing with the Virsyn Terra demo in Cubase SX (V1.05) and am having a couple of problems. Firstly, when I start Cubase the Terra sequencer doesn't start at the same time leaving the two out of sync. Also Terra won't follow Cubase tempo changes. Secondly, when choosing a patch in the Cubase inspector there is only the one bank showing regardless of MIDI channel. This changes depending on the last preset chosen. Do any of you have these same problems and if so how do you get around them? Any help here appreciated as I really want to like the Terra. Tony PS: I also e-mailed Virsyn but I was hoping for some user viewpoints too.

Hi there,
I am the US Distributor for the TERA. got a couple of questions for you. 1) what platform are you using? PC or Mac? 2) the first question I think I have the answer to, but could you give a little more detail as to your second question? We'll get your questions answered quickly

Hi Michael,
Thanks for your post. Going to answer myself here, but might be useful info for others. I have just finished an e-mail conversation with Harry from Virsyn in which he said that they were aware of the sync problem and it would be fixed at the next update The second problem is due to the limitations of the VST implementation in Cubase SX. In other words SX expects VST instruments to only have 1 bank of sounds. This is why TERA has the 'songbank' bank. My understanding of this is that this special bank stores all 16 sounds in the project. This is saved by Cubase allowing the sounds to be restored when the Cubase file is re-opened. Of course you can't save in the demo so it was not clear what was happening here. I will have to choose sounds in TERA rather than Cubase but I have to do that with Kontakt and Model E as well so I have no problem with this. Anyway, if there is anyone out there with SX and TERA I would be really interested to know how they are using the combination. Regards Tony PS: Oh, and just for the record I am on a PC (P4 2Ghz, 1Gb RAM, SW1000XG soundcard and Win2K).

Hi There,
Ya, it is a little annoying that it you cannot select the banks properly from SX, but hey..it's just one extra move As for the performance, I am just happy as ever with my trusty dusty PIII system running Windows ME. With the latest update, you get a 30% increase in performance as well! |
