AuthorTopic: Crystal - Friend for life (tutorial)

Hi all,

Someone mailed me who seemed to be as shy of Crystal as I was and was asking for help in getting to that "A ha!" moment that I experienced.

What I thought I might do is write a tutorial of Crystal discovery from my own perspective.

A couple of patches will also be supplied. However, don't expect anything good. Most of you guys could out synth program me in your sleep.

Perhaps if it's not the crappiest tutorial in the universe, Glenn could find a use for it.

In any case - watch this space.

My knowledge of synth programming is pretty minimal. I bought and read a book on the basics of it, and it has helped me understand the basics, but I need practical experience, and your tutorial would be invaluable. I really like Crystal 2, and would love to be able to think of a sound I want, and then create it.

I think that would be a fine idea. Issues 53 and 54 of Computer Music each have a Crystal tutorial (one for atmospheric pads, one for beginners) and there are a couple of tutorials at the Crystal web site ( http://www.greenoak.com/crystal/info.html ), but the fact is everybody has a different "resonance frequency" for tutorials. One that makes me go "Aha", make not do it for someone else, and vice versa. So, I think the more tutorials, the better.
