AuthorTopic: Favorite VST Instrument/VST effect combination?
Rabid

I'm just starting to look at the effects side of my setup and decided what to get to really enhance instruments. Many instruments come with the basic reverb, delay, distortion, etc... I'm wondering what is really useful for totally changing the sound of the instrument while leaving it in the realm of musically usefull. What are some good combinations of instruments and effects that people here use to get different sounds?

I almost never use insert effects any more and my mixes are all the better for it. When I do use 'em, however, it is almost always some kind of distortion plug-in. Most often the ORION Tube Distortion but I've also found Dominion to be fairly useful and I used to swear by MDA BandDisto although I don't use it any more.

The only inserts i use are Orions 2 band distortion, mdaCombo or some sort of phaser usually.
