AuthorTopic: Atmosphere--only good for pads?

I have listened to the Atmosphere demos on the website, and read many opinions of it, but still can't tell what all the hype is about. *cringe* I don't use a lot of "paddy" stuff in my music, so can it do weird bleepy or stabby or liney sounds too?

I think that you would be surprized at what it can do

We'll have some more demos up pretty soon, showing different styles and approaches. Because of the really good solo legato trigerring and glide...it definitely works well for "liney" kinds of stuff.

Certainly the presets are geared towards sustaining and ambient sounds primarily....but there are some radical leads and basses and you can alter the start point of the layers and change the envelopes to do really short blippy stuff too. There's a lot of ways to use the instrument...I think it would depend on your approach if it was for you or not.

You should try to check it out at a store if you can....it really depends on what you do. It's certainly geared towards the "fat/thick/wide/motion" end of things, and the "weird/crazy/super agressive" stuff isn't the main focus, but there is definitely a bit of that side of things too.

What kind of music do you do or do you like? That would help to know....

Thanks for the responses. Nice little sample too, ner0s. I like that fyucha-peggiating end part. I like "making" Wink hip-hop mostly, but more along the tech-synthy side than the sample manipulation side...so I'm always looking out for new sounds that aren't quite so cliched and obvious. But I DO appreciate some of the more "European" (heheh) stuff to get a grip on different sounds/approaches to all this new technology.

Well, I may have to go to the music store (does West L.A. Music have it?) and check it out. I do like "wide" and "motion" so it really may have a place in my so-called vsti collection. Too bad it costs such a pretty penny *nudge, nudge.*
