Culture Tryout 1.0.sit (103MB)

whoa thats mighty large for a demo Surprised

however im glad there IS a demo (even though i dont have a MAC).. i think this is what the other company that has made similar romplers (not gonna mention the name Wink) should have done too.. instead of just some mp3s.. Rolling Eyes

Hi VitaminD,
we will also offer the tryout version for PC during the next weeks.
Of yourse 103MB is "a bit" large (sorry for all modem users Wink ), but even if you just take a small overview of a 9GB product like Culture: 100MB is the minimum.
Enjoy

yes i applaud the fact that you have created a trial version!!.. reguardless of the file size!!

audio demos dont work when one wants to test how such a synth feels INSIDE one's host... this is why trials are good.. Smile

one comment though.. if you had a ftp, you could easily have the RESUME option enabled... thus allowing modem users to grab it easily within an ftp client.. off and on.

or in 10 - 20 Mb segments.. either/or would be great

the reason i bring this up is.. my internet connection disconnects every 8 hours (even when im in the middle of using it).. so downloading 103mb files would be next to impossible. im going to go on a limb here and say this is fairly common for most dialups.. Sad

I'm lucky enough to have a cable modem, so 7 1/2 minutes later... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Sounds great! At first I thought, "only a djembe, tambourine, shaker and sourdo?" But then, I tried them out: yeeeaaahhh. Really great sounding, easy to use (if you're not sure where the samples are on the keyboard, open the Editor. You'll see a virtual keyboard with the mapping of the samples). I particularly like the release samples, and the nice performance touches like the modwheel crossfades. Cool

I've been playing djembe for several years and have to say this the best sample I've heard yet. Very nice job. Very Happy

may I give my impression :
the "CULTURE" is a very artistic instrument, not a simple VST, an INSTRUMENT.
NO boiled LOOP , no PRE schew stuffs...
you will have to be C-R-E-A-T-I-V-E, you will have to be "musician".
To obtain a good result, YellowTools have created an instrument capable of a realistic sounding, very clean samples, hi dynamic ( i've played with the "Velocity " of LogicAudio and the result is astonish ! ( layers stuffs...)
The "Djembe" in the demo is absolutly incredible !! the realism is at the maximum that a VST can offer for the moment.
one last word to describe Culture , "MUSICAL" and "QUICK" , in few minuts you can have a good sounding Percussion track without use a loop, but what you've played.
I'm waiting for the "DRUM" version Smile

The level of quality in sampler VSTi has change with the arriving of the YellowTools Instrument, it's not gonna be easy to follow ( for the other VSTdeveloppers...) but for the moment, we ( musician, programmers etc...) can take advantage of the YellowTools programmers work ! and go back to our pleasure, MUSIC, because obviously, people at YellowTools are musicians, Pure Bass, Pure Drum , PURE MUSIC !!

Not to sound lazy or anything but how much is Culture, and are there any limitations on the demo other than the three instruments provided? I'm going to have to get a friend with a cable modem to download this demo for me if not, as this certainly looks neat.

I think the list is like $399.

The demo appears full fuctioning, with limited presets.

The sound is reallly great. I have Studio Drums for Battery by Yellows Tools and it is in the same league.

I kinda wish they had a "cut-down" version, but I think they will be worth the money.[/i]

Ouch at that price I'll be passing Rolling Eyes . Between Stylus and the stuff SR has planned, I think I could pass on Culture. I could always just buy several percussion instruments, I have a few already, microphones, and a nice preamp Very Happy .

I downloaded "Majestic" 2 times (ruffly an hour since im on cable)

the size of the trial version is of 144megs but IE 5 stops at 122.

i get error messages when decompressing the trial version.

Darn!

though as a consolation I can access the samples in their respective folder, guess I'll load them up in kontackt(once i get it in 2 days)
