Hey Moritz, doesn't EXS24 automatically stream from the HD when the samples are too big to fit in the RAM?

Iīm not quite shure about that..arenīt there some parameters to adjust the settings for disk-streaming? Rolling Eyes

Actually, if I remember this correctly, when I installed Logic5, the installer asked me if I want to enable the streaming function. Did you answer yes?

Also Mac does complicated RAM allocation things, right (in Windows, the OS does it dynamically)? Like how many Mbytes to Logic and such. So I don't know...I don't have a Mac... I'd ask the same question at Sonik.

oh, I think I got it...virtual memory in the exs-options..but Iīm pretty shure that I didnīt see that on the G4..(now Iīm on a G3 Powerbook)

maybe I have to search in the general LAP-prefs if thereīs something to enable/disable diskstreaming..

To enable Audio Streaming, open up the EXS24 and open the options menu. At the bottom you will see Virtual Memory That's what Emagic has been forced to call their HD streaming. Set it to Active.

Are you using Logic 5.x on each?

If one is Logic 4.x then you need to install the file that runs the disk streaming -- 4.x doesn't install it automatically AFAIK.

It just means that you can load a lot more MB of samples than you have RAM. I load the GigaPiano (1GB) and several other instruments and I only have 384 MB.

It idefinitely works Wink

I wouldn't expect any such problems. This system works by storing the front of every sample in RAM and it starts playing from there -- the rest of eash sample playing is spooled up from the hard drive as needed -- in exactly the same manner as Audio tracks are.
