im using reaktor 3.0.5 in fruityloops and need some help with saving and automating it.
Firstly how do u automate the the ensembles???the edit event function in fruity isnt accessible when using reaktor.
Secondly how do you save reaktor in a fruityloops song. Whenever i try to save a song with reaktor in it the flp file gets corrupt and unusable. What does the box that comes up when i open reaktor mean. it sais something like i "save , save as ,no ,never"??
id really appreciate any help

cheers

I don't use Reaktor in Fruityloops but in SX I always use Midi CC's to record automation. I assign a knob/dial etc to a knob on my Phatboy and use that to record midi data on a separate midi track - this enables you to edit the data without effecting the original notes that are being played as they are separate on a separate track.

Midi data definately works but I don't know about Fruityloops methods.

As for the dialog box that appears - Because when you load a Reaktor VSTi, it really loads a type of shell to place the ensemble you choose into it. When you save a song, the VST host will know what ensemble you loaded but cannot automatically save the state you set the ensemble to be. Reaktor VST basically does its own file handling and you need to tell it to save the ensemble or not. I basically save a new ensemble with the same name as the tune its loaded in. That way you always keep a 'fresh' reaktor ensemble to start tweaking from and it prevents you from altering the settings of an ensemble that may be used in another tune.

e.g. If you used weedwacker.ens in a couple of tunes called 'one' & 'two' then I would perform a save as on the 'weedwacker.ens' to 'one.ens' and again to 'two.ens'. If I used just the 'weedwacker.ens' for both tunes then the settings would constantly be saved to the those used in the last opened tune. Using individual names can clutter up your hard disk with lots of new ensemble's but as most are smallish files and you can delete them when your tune is finished (or keep them as new presets). Using Reaktors snapshots is the other way (presumably the proper way) but the temptation might be to browse through a few snapshots and start tweaking one to suit the tune your working on, but this preset may be used in a different tune etc.

When you save, choose 'save as' and rename the ensemble. You only need to do a 'save as' once per tune then you can use the 'save' option to keep the same name.

Errr, hope this makes some sense Shocked

To control VSTis via MIDI CCs:

Set the port on Reaktor (top right) to 1, or something.
Add a midi out channel, and also set that to the same port.
Right click a MIDI Out knob, and click Configure. Set the CC and stuff in that box, and then you should be able to automate that knob to automate whatever it is in Reaktor.

I'd like to know if there's a way to recover those FLP files corrupted by Reaktor.

Temporarily remove Reactor plugin out of the plugins folder so that Fruityloops cannot find it - this will probably allow you to recover the files as the Reactor will get replaced by empty channel.

Interesting idea!
I'll give it a go.

{Edit: RATZ! no joy Sad error message still pops up instantly}

Right-click on the control you want to automate, and check MIDI learn. Then, move the controller you want to assign to it.Be sure to UNCHECK the MIDI learn before moving another controller.
Or,right-click on what you want to automate, select Properties and set it up there.
