One thing thhat would be super cool is something along the lines of synthedit (I believe that this is the right prog) where you can export your creations as VSTi's. That would be much cooler than having to run ensembles inside reaktor.
this has been mentioned before and i think was shot down as Native instruments would loose sale of dynamo straightaway. But it could be codeed so that you can only run them if you have reaktor or dynamo or suchlike 's dongle in your usb port. Simple and elegant solution. Anyone from Native reading this board? I know you are Cheers 22

We were having a chat about this very subject on the N.I. forum last week. It's a cool idea, but I don't really see it happening. In fact, the more I think about it,the more problems I see with it.You say that it would only work with the dongle...well,if you've got the dongle,WHY do you need to export or import a VSTi made from Reaktor? The processing would be the same, and you'd still have the same resource use

what if it was like pluggo.. and you needed the reaktor runtime to make it work.. that might make it easier to implement for the dev doods

How does Pluggo work? I come from the SONAR side, and not the trad VST route... ew

I can see why NI might think it an unwise decision. Why would anyone want to buy Pro53 if someone could build an export something very similar to it for any and all to use? The Pluggo solution would indeed be an excellent solution. This is how Soundquest's Infinity works. You can export DXI, VSTi, and MIDI FX all for use within other hosts, but you have to have Infinity installed to use them. They actually allow you to give away a free standalone Infinity player so others can open your creations. However, NI might rightfully assume that this would cut in on the future sales of Reaktor Sessions...

I do wish there was a simpler, better method of using Reaktor inside of Sonar. The current system is cumbersome and not entirely stable or CPU efficient. It would be nice to separate the creation engine from the play engine and bring in instruments in a simpler form.

ew" Good point, I think reaktor is pretty cumbersome as a vsti, it would be much better to be able to load the synths as a standalone VSTi instead...... Cheers 22

Yep, that's the Infinity I was referring to. However, you must be careful Try out the demo fully and thoroughly in all of your hosts. I was amazed to find that the claims made that it can run as a DXi were totally in error. In fact, any time I attempt to open an Infinity creation as a DXi, it crashes Sonar completely. Oddly, the VSTi synths will run fine as DXis through VSTAdapter (and through Spark FX Machine with VSTAdapter). And the VST implementation works a charm in Cubase SX... |
