AuthorTopic: Atmosphere ( Patch Load Times )

Apart from buying a faster computer is there any way to speed up the loading of patches ?. The sounds are great but the time to load them on my machine is annoying and really disrupts my work flow.

50 meg patches usually take about 10 to 15 seconds to load. The majority of the patches are pretty big. For a test I fired up sampletank
and loaded some 50 meg patches . They load in about 3 seconds. Is this because of the huge data file?

Is anyone else noticed the slow load times or maybe I have somthing configured wrong.

I'm using an xp1800 with plenty of ram and a fast harddrive.

It does sound nice though. Smile

same for me, but i dont really mind so much. Remember its not loading one 50mb file, its loading 2 files (not 50mb each tho). I think its all down to the speed of your hard drive

The load times are my only compaint about Atmosphere, (after I managed to get it installed, but that's another story) the bigger ones can make browsing a real pain. The sounds themselves tho' are stunning and make this a great vsti Very Happy

Hi Guy's,

Prophet is right, Atmosphere has to search for two individual Files which explains the load time..However I don't think 10-15 sec's is much to complain about?
My house mate still uses an Atari!!!

Man, he can switch it on make a Rolly and a Coffee, go back to it and it's still switchin on!!! Shocked Laughing
Lol...

Regarding the atari , you only have to switch it on once so no problem there. If you are working on a track and the juice is flowing you want to get your ideas down quick. I've gotten use to working a certain way. I like to choose sounds on the fly while the track is playing .

The sounds are great but if it disrupts the way I'm used to working then
I won't use it as much. I find myself sticking with sampletank or
plugsound 5 for my pads or my korg x5d.

Is anyone getting fast load times and if you are what machine are you running?

my advice stop the Caffiene! Cool

I can not really think that 15 seconds is going to kill your Creative Juices... and if so why Sacrifice the GREAT sound that you get from Atmosphere...... Shocked

I dont get it..... but I think that for me I can handle waiting 15-30 seconds... even tho I dont think that Ihave ever waited longer then 10

Good luck Very Happy

I gotta agree with NerOz, the longest it take to "load" on my computer is maybe 5-10 seconds max... That's not that big of a deal... You could always buy a faster hard drive I guess... Smile

Well, listening the core sound library of Atmo could surely be made better. It's much easier and quicker to listen the samples in Reason refills for instance.

Don't get me wrong . I love the sounds. It does a great job.
The loading time though does really turn me off.

My work goes like this . Drum track playing , scroll through bass sounds
, Bang nice hook bassline . Bang nice chords . . Now some nice background . Waiting ....Waiting ..... waiting .... I give up next vsti.

You see this is the way I work and the way most people work . The faster you can get your ideas down the better.

I guess it's just using hardware so long. You know I didn't buy the Trinity when it first came out because of the lag in the screen when changing patches. I like instance responce . That's the way I work and there is no changing that no matter how good the sounds are. If I remember a sound that might fit my track then yes I will search for it .

Atmosphere is a great vsti and well worth every penny . I guess it's like
Doom 3 . When it comes out the frame rate will be slow on the average computer but it will improve with the newer machines. I'm comparing Atmosphere with Doom because they are really both at the top of there game.

P.s I don't drink coffee but do chew beatle nuts . It's a drug wrapped in leaves here in Taiwan Smile What a rush Surprised
