I don't know if it has been the topic of a thread before but ...

Firstly, I must deeply thank Scot Solida for this finding !!! Cool

I think it's worth a thread and boost to the developers ...

http://www.sonorouscodes.net/features.html

Download the demo and the files associated with the mp3's if you don't want to start from scratch, it's better to paint on an already decent file, trust me !!

Limitations : better read the readme once in your life !! Razz

It's a 0.62 version, it's young but very promising !!!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Downsides :
The calculations take between some and many seconds on my 1Ghz AMD ...
Wavs imported don't sound like "before" and imports may be very very lengthy ( don't go over 5 seconds ) !! Crying or Very sad
It's for the maniac sound designer !! HiHi
It's not the usual way to make sounds but you can perform sonograms of many sounds to have good starting points.

Upside : you can do " nearly " anything !!! Love

No price yet because still beta but sure I'll buy it !!! Very Happy

If you like this kind of programs, you can also give a look to AudioPaint (see link below my signature). It's completely free on my web site. You can use a sine but also any .WAV file as the basis for the synthesis. It does not include drawing tools but you can import jpeg, gif, bmp etc... Why re-invent Photoshop Very Happy ? The engine is not limited to 1024 harmonics but is pretty slow.

It's a very simple program but it was initially done for my own use. I have used it for microsound / glitch compositions and soundscapes.

Enjoy !

Ah, I will check that out NickSonic, thanks! Heh. I knew you'd like this, Preset Perverter! It really is fantastic. I urge everyone to check this out, but beware, you WILL want to buy it when you do!

EDIT: WOW! Nick, that is a great site you have, with all kinds of cool things, free, commercial and otherwise. I am so glad you psoted that link! "Gloops" looks like a blast!

Hey, AudioPaint is fun.

Hey, just read your bio. I'm a GameCube guy, so I've used your stuff before. :->

Wow Nick thanks. You've got tonnes of useful stuff on your site. I'm going to have a play and see if I can make them useful in my set up.

You don't have a download link to Microsound. I know you're working on a new one, but is the old one still available for download?

Scot, I think we must push all those guys out of the web dark forest and under the glaring lights of kvr !! Laughing
Nicolas, shame on me : I don't use Virtual Waves as I used to !!! Embarassed
Since the development stopped, I wondered what happened.

Pas trop le mal du pays ? Wink

thank you for audiopaint Smile

that demo seems to be even better, but it's unfinished, so i'll stick with audiopaint until they release a full version.

I actually didn't like Virtual Waves. I seemed to have all sorts of problems with it on my system so I just dropped it.

However, I like the tools you have on your page Nick.

I like the Granulator, Audiopaint and Textures.

I'm looking forward to having a go at Microsound too.

Thanks for the kind words everybody. That will surely motivate me to spend some more time in front of the computer after a hard day of work Smile.

I will let you know when a usable version of Microsound is available. By the way, does anybody know a person willing to do some nice graphic interfaces (knobs / sliders / backgrounds etc...) for sound freewares ?

Prophet might...although isn't there a bunch of knobs and sliders floating around somewhere for free use at the moment?

Unfortunately I can't recall the thread..
