I tried it this morning at home. Awesome. I saw a Hammond B3 book at Borders last week that had all sorts of drawbar settings for different sounds.

I...must...buy...it.

OPlat, Chainer, Cubase SX (demo) and Massiva.

I think I tried all VST organs including the B4. When I heard the Dirtbag I though it was sample based, incredible! And for free!! Thanks!!!

(rave mode off)

Uh...is it sample based?

NNNOOOOOOOOOO!
DirtBag is not sample based! It is "ported" from the SynC Modular ensemble TTW. (You could find TTW on my page:
http://home.mindspring.com/~ikaldor/ikhome.htm)
Ported(?) I mean based on the structure of TTW.
But it was made with SynthEdit, of course its different.
I am glad you like it!!!

So I found some drawbar settings on the web. I have a few questions.

1) Is the leftmost drawbar the 16' and the rightmost drawbar the 1'?
2) Do the drawbar sliders advance as they go up the screen? Normally, drawbars go from 0 to 8. I assume that the slider all the way out is maxed out.
3) When I look at the values of the drawbars in my host, the rightmost ones go from 0 to 1.0. The leftmost ones, however, grow to 2.0. Is that right? Is that how it's supposed to work? Is this a case of your amp going to 11?

If you answer these, I'll go ahead and make a bank of "classic" drawbar organ settings.

It was already excellent, but itīs getting better nearly day by day. For me itīs the best SE synth. DirtBag 1.5x has very nice additional presets and the sounds are extremely realistic. At the moment itīs my most used VSTi. ik, thank you again very much for that gift.

Works like a charm now for me ik! Thanks a bunch! Very Happy Really like the additional voices you added as well. Amazing that so many textures and FX can be coerced out of a otherwise 'basic' organ. Thanks again for all your hard work, made for an excellent plug in now.Smile

Back to playing 'Popcorn' with that patch! Laughing

Hi!
1: Yes.
2: Yes.
3: Here is the reason why: I read somewhere that the low pitch tonewheels of the Hammond have less (of course) but bigger "teeths",
while higher pitch tonewheels have more (of course) but smaller "teets".
Now, bigger "teets" translates into larger amplitude, while the shorter ones, smaller amplitude. I've never had the chance to take a part of a Hammond, but I was playing arounf with the Hammond clone Roland VK7, and that clearly follow this trend. Regarding the output level, it will never go beyond 10: A lot of processing is going on after the tones generated:
filter->leslie->distortion->limiter. The limiter has a max +/-10 clipper.
To set the volume to a decent level set the Vol button to max, and then set the level around +/-5 with the Gain button. (See oscilloscope.)

To get the desired tone, besides the drawbars, you most certainly need to tweek other parameters too. The best way, listen to an organ sample and have the "thing" tuned to it as close as possible.
Happy tweaking!

Wonderful. Thanks for the explanation, ik. You should think of including a doc (.html, .pdf, .txt, whatever) with your synth.

You got me kinda excited with all that "teet" talk, by the way.

This organ is absolutely mindblowing. Smile I was playing a little with it today - it is indeed CPU intensive - and I really was blown away. I love ZR-1 but this one is even better. I'm no organ expert, but I like the tone of this more than the sounds of the B4 demo I tried some months ago[so you realise that the comparison is not really exact, to say the least]. But it really inspires me and makes me feel that I'm really playing an organ. Fantastic.

If you haven't checked this out yet, do it! You won't be dissapointed. Smile

Surprised , Idea
I should have called those 'tonewheel teeths' like .... 'tonewheel tits'.
That would have made you kinda even more excited? Very Happy
But Hammonds don't have those. I don't think so.
