yeah, looks great.

What happened to EMU's softsampler, wasn't it
shown at last year's NAMM? And then nothing?
It wouldn't surprise me if this one goes down
the same route. Sooner or later, they'll realize
that there's no money in software (yet).

The problem is that if Akai and E-mu do not get into the market now it will be too late. Why buy the Akai softsampler if you already own GigaStudio, Kontakt and/or SampleTank? The only thing left is drawing the market that wants to use a soft sampler that will transfer sounds to hardware for using on the road.

Thats exactly right. Personally I dont see any advantages to the Akai VZ8 compared to Kontakt or Halion. I'm sure Akai and E-mu have some tricks up their sleeve that they'll announce at NAMM. If not then I cant see how they would compete.
