I know that there are a number of PC Pro Tools users that would be willing to buy this, so would one one of you brilliant developers please make it.

ProTools will soon support Rewire. Cakewalk Project 5 uses Rewire. Use your VST/VSTi DX/DXi with Project 5, and presto! there you have it. Plus, you get all of the rest of the stuff Project 5 has to offer.

RTAS is not an open API like VST. You can only use it with Digi's permission.
When Cycling '74 wanted to add an RTAS/VST wrapper to Pluggo like
they do for MAS, Digi threatened to withold permission to use RTAS.
As a result, the RTAS version of Pluggo has VST hosting removed.

so what your saying is that it would be quite easy for someone to make an 'underground' tdm > Vsti adapter?

Prophet I'm not a dev, but I'm fairly certain a TDM wrapper wouldn't be possible, or at least not very easy to use, and fairly CPU intensive, as TDM plugs need PT hardware and it's DSPs to run. An RTAS to VST wrapper would be possible if someone could somehow get their hands on the RTAS SDK or backwards engineer the format, but I fear they'd probably be facing a lawsuit from Digi if they tried. Oh well...

there's already a wrapper that lets VSTs run in Pro Tools - saw it in SOS I think. I dunno how to use it, but it says its uses directconnect or something - said there's instructions on how to get it running with pro tools anyway:
